For our staff and players it is a chance to get in direct contact with you, our supporters, and meet old and new friends and acquaintances from the gaming industry. In this article we will provide a recap of our exciting and busy Gamescom week so you can be a part of it even if you could not attend the event.
Tuesday, August 21:
The first day of Gamescom is exclusively for trade visitors. We had a perfect tailor made kick-off to the exhibition by teaming up our FIFA player Mirza 'Mirza' Jahic with Lukas, a YouTuber from freekickerz, to do some challenges against the football players Timo Horn and Niklas Hauptmann of our partner 1. FC Koeln. However, before the friendly competition in several disciplines started, they checked out the vast variety of new games, technology and merchandise that Gamescom has to offer.
After getting a general overview it was time for the first competition between team SK Gaming and the players from the football club of our organization’s hometown of Cologne. All challenges with the goalkeeper and midfielder of 1. FC Koeln were close contests and you can look forward to some funny videos in the near future. Down below you can find a little preview of some of the tasks that the competitors took on.
Wednesday, August 22:
Wednesday was the first of the remaining days that are accessible to the public and throughout them many of you came to meet us and say hello. It was a great experience for us and our players. At the beginning of the first public day, our FIFA player Timo 'Praii' Gruneisen played some FIFA 19 on the ESL stage and had an open forum with politicians.
The entertaining Magenta Gaming Night party of our sponsor Deutsche Telekom was the conclusion to a great day. We celebrated our partnership and the announcement of their new feature called StreamOn Gaming which is a service that allows you to play a vast variety of mobile games without using up your mobile data. It was a fun night of great company, tasty drinks and delicious food.

The next day, Mirza had a meet and greet and a beat the pro challenge at the exhibition booth of Razer. He took on some of his supporters and stayed to talk and take photos with many of you long after the official end of the meet and greet.
Today @MrNeverG1veUp was spotted at @TeamRazer ‘s booth at #gamescom208! Fans queued to chat with their #FIFA hero, get his autograph and even had a chance to play a game together with our pro! Thank you all who could make it and stay tuned - @TeamRazer has more surprises coming! pic.twitter.com/olvyd1Qsyt— SK Gaming (@SKGaming) 23. August 2018
Friday, August 24:
On Friday, our League of Legends team also stopped by the Razer stand for a meet and greet and were happy to see that so many of you came by.
Saturday, August 25:
Another highlight awaited us on the final day of Gamescom. Our League of Legends team was set to compete against Euronics Gaming in the grand final of the third and final stop of the Premier Tour Summer Season. However, the Best of Five did not go as we hoped it would and our players lost 0-3. Up until the mid portion of the games they were always up front but could not capitalize on their advantages as they often came out on the short end of team fights and in the battle for Baron. Nonetheless, the positive starts to the matchups offer reason for optimism. Our squad still has not played together for a long time and in close contests like this nuances often decide the outcome. It was not an ideal conclusion to Gamescom 2018 but being able to make it to the top two of such an event and dominating the early and mid game against a strong opponent of this caliber is a sign for what is to come and a step into the right direction for our League of Legends team.
Altogether it was a great Gamescom once again. Meeting so many of you personally at the exhibition was an awesome experience for everyone involved. Do not worry if you did not have the chance to be here this time. There is always a next year and you can look forward to some hilarious upcoming video content.
