Today, our CS:GO team will travel to Haikou, Hainan, China to compete in the WESG 2017 World Finals which offers the 28 contestants a whopping prize pool of $1,500,000. Our squad was looking forward to that competition for a long time and will try to prove that Brazil is the top Counter Strike nation on the globe. The fans inside of the Haikou International Convention & Exhibition Center will witness the crowning of the champion who will get the prize money's lion’s share of $800,000. The event offers rather unknown teams and players an opportunity to shine and go through an once in a lifetime experience. It is going to be interesting to see if any underdogs will be able to surprise some of the favourites.
The participating field is split into eight groups that consist of four teams each. The first round will be played in best of ones. The top two squads enter the next round that will only consist of four groups. Due to the withdrawal of
Ukraine,
NOREG,
emc and
Viva Algeria, Group E and H will only feature two teams. Therefore, the two remaining rosters of both groups advance directly into the next round where the format changes to a best of two. Just as in the first stage, the top two spots will continue their path and compete in the playoffs.
Our Brazilians are in Group D and will play their first matches on the second day against
BIG,
Russia and
New4.
