Head ESL admin Shawn interviewed

By Lawrence Benedict 'Malystryx' Phillips

Nihilum have conducted an interview with ESL head administrator for World of Warcraft David 'Shawn' Kugelmann about the EM Los Angeles, WoTLK and more.

Known for his admin work in the Warcraft3 league WC3L, Shawn is also now the head of the ESL WoW division which sees its Intel Extreme Masters Global Challenge for World of Warcraft already underway.

Here is an extract:

Blizzard are always keen to expand World of Warcraft tournaments as much as they can. If they asked you what else they can do to expand and better the tournaments what would it be?

ESL.Shawn: That's pretty easy: Introduce the classic elements of eSports games! WoW needs an observer mode, custom games (where you can actually chose the map) and a lan server so you can have tournaments all around the world without worrying about ping problems.

I also believe that "deathmatch" is not the best mode to observe. A mode with a higher goal like Capture the Flag would be a bit more enjoyable to watch and would also be easier to understand for people who don't know all the classes and their spells.

The entire interview is available here.
