ImageOver half a million dollars will be lying to be picked up by gamers this month in seven tournaments on three continents.

Every weekend of this month will have at least one high-profile esports event starting with the Extreme Masters III tournament in Los Angeles for Counter-Strike and World of Warcraft and MLG in Dallas for WoW. An aggregate of $102,500 will be given out in LA and Dallas.

On top of that, the American WCG qualifier will definitely be worth winning (this weekend as well). It offers $36,400 in prizes for CS 1.6, WC3 and StarCraft.

The next weekend (October 10-11) will be even more lucrative as $200,000 will be paid out at BlizzCon in Anaheim. The StarCraft and Warcraft 3 tournaments will each have a prize purse of $40,000 and the WoW competition will have three times that amount.

After BlizzCon the action will move to Canada and Greece for Extreme Masters Montreal and ESWC Masters of Athens (October 17-18). A total of $110,000 will go to CS 1.6, WoW, WC3 and Quake 3 players that weekend.

The month closes with the Extreme Masters III CS 1.6 tournament in Dubai (October 22-24) with a purse of $50,000.

The prizes given out over those four weekends will amount to a total of over $500,000 (including prizes from tournaments for the less popular games, i.e. at WCG USA). One could add the World eSports Masters's $100,000 to this pot but the event ends in November.

Prize money breakdown by game
1) $202,500 - World of Warcraft ($30,000 EM III LA, $22,500 MLG Dallas, $120,000

2) $176,000 - Counter-Strike 1.6 ($50,000 EM III LA, $26,000 WCG USA, $50,000 EM III Montreal, $50,000 EM III Dubai)
3) $60,200 - Warcraft 3 ($5,200 WCG USA, $40,000 BlizzCon, $15,000 ESWC Athens)
