Farm4Fame brackets released

ImageThe long awaited event hold by DotA-League is here! The Farm4Fame brackets to the first tournament have been released. With it's original format consisting ten small tournaments it will definetly be something new and interesting.

Finally the event 'Farm4Fame' has started and brackets for the first tournaments have been released. The event contains a series of tournaments, a total of ten, where the four teams who won the most of them shall go to the playoffs.

After a first glance on the tournaments structure one can see that it will not be easy for a team to take home all the wins since a team can meet anyone from the start. Nonetheless, the greatest obstacle will be the high tempo of the tournament(s). Each round, with a total of five, got three days to be played until the semi-finals where it's a deadline of only two days.

To get some answers to some questions we asked one of the responsible admins for the whole event, Matthias 'Dopeshow' Schmedeshagen, a few questions i.e. its original format.

"Hello Dopeshow, first of all we would like to ask you if the brackets are all randomized from round one, which means that a team can get any opponent from the start? Your 'unorthodox' system has no seeded teams at all. Do you see this as the tournaments strength or weakness? Do you think it might attract less people if the 'top teams' meet each other in an early round?

Dopeshow: Hey, yes that is true and it is against our policy to change the brackets even if we wanted. We thought a lot about this feature, and the conclusion was that every seeding will affect the tournament in general. We dont have enough "weak" teams to grant equal circumstances for all teams and if we e.g. seed a "weak" team versus one top team the other teams will have other circumstances. Randomize it all is the only way to ensure that nobody cries "bias!". Concerning the issue with top teams meeting each other at an early stage is not a problem since I think that the overall level of competition is high enough to random the first round. I think that its the best way for us and I think that it offers a lot of surprise and excitement in every stage of the event.

Another problem that might occur is that the high frequency of tournaments and rounds will make teams unable to keep up with it, since the first three rounds got three days before deadline and semi finals got two days. In itself it would not be a problem but with all the other leagues and tournaments such as the playoff stage in PDL, recently started ESL, Pick-League, ENADC and the upcoming pride 11 there will be a lot of games for the teams to attend to?

Dopeshow: First of all: I think that everyone has to check which event is worth the most. We have 72 hours to schedule and play a single match as the first rounds are best of 1, I dont think those who will take it serious cant handle this. We all have to priorize something and something else not. Farm4fame offers the highest level of competition online right now. We have a pretty nice prize galore, too - so I think most of the teams will think about not playing F4F twice And no, we wont slow down the tempo.

Have you got any similiar schedule like PDL got with organized streamers coming up? And/or other ways to advertise the games of this event?

Dopeshow: We are feeling prepared to cover the upcoming tournaments, we got shoutcasts to cover some of the games. We also got streamers that are ready to let the community be a part of the games live. Concerning news we got our own coverage section and we hopefully get news on other sites. I also think that Sgamer will do some coverage and that all together with DotA-League will hopefully be enough to cover it all.

All can see that there will be a lot of energy required from the admins to keep up the tournament(s) and we hope it will all go well :). Good luck and thanks for the time!

Dopeshow: A lot of energy is still underestimated! It is TONS of work.. and we underestimated it a little in the beginning but I think we have a really well working team now but still some more reliable crew would be fine. Thanks for the interview aswell :)"
