Matthieu Dallon has revealed the list of games considered for the upcoming ESWC season. It turns out that DotA is not out for sure and StarCraft 2 looks like a certain pick in the future. The first pool of games was announced last week with CS 1.6 (male and female), Warcraft 3, Trackmania and Quake 3. This list will be further expanded and SK Gaming's interview with Matthieu Dallon sheds more light on it.
Games Services want a virtual football game back in the ESWC and are still negotiating with the publishers of PES 2009 and FIFA 09. A console game is also an option that Dallon wants: "[It] could be Street Fighter 4 but the release date seems to be again delayed."
Not all hope is lost for the DotA community. The game was given a chance in the 2008 season but did not make the cut in the first list. It turns out that the game still has a chance: "The line-up is open to games like DotA or WoW and COD4 – we work on those possibilities. Starcraft II will probably be selected when released, next year, next season..."
In the interview, Dallon also talks about ESWC's general policy of game choices: "I really understand the disappointment of some communities, but we cannot work with all the good games. We have to represent families of games, we have to make choices valuable worldwide, we have to favour the most popular titles and we also have personal affinities."

FIRST. female cashprizes are A LOT SMALLER than male's
SECOND. women play A LOT LESS than men, video games culture is much more a male thing forever and less women are true nolifez like those pro men.
THIRD. They receive A LOT LESS support from sponsors to be able to live on gaming, which men can do.
FOURTH. Since most of the organizers consider Electronic Games like a sport (E-Sport), male and female is always separated.
my all girl dota team played against the men at eswc masters....sure we got owned but that wasnt because we were female, it was because of a complete lack of practice and experience compared to the teams in our group.
Not true (do better research?) for just one example every motor sport (car racing, drifting, rally, Moto GP etc) there isn't a seperate female class. Actually there were female Formula 1 drivers in modern grandprix history.
talk about a dead game
brighten up eswc.
COD4 is too similar to CS
DotA is boring, too close to WC3
i'd go with Street Fighter 4, after all Street Fighter is the grand father or pro-gaming (at least in Japan/US in the very early '90). the father is Quake and the mother is Starcraft (another classic game missing).
CoD4 is dying allready, people waiting for CoD5
DoTA, mmm... not sure about this 1, because i find it fun but not really fun to watch imo. got professional teams tho, but so has CoD4.
WoW, just can get aids and stick to just fun play.
tl;dr version, CoD4 won't get picked, SC will be good and DotA is old
