ImageFollowing the announcement of European Continental Finals three days ago, which brought the event to Hamburg, ESL has unveiled Chengdu as the host city for next year’s Asian Continental Finals.

The Asian Finals to take place at the Happy Kingdom Theme Park in the China Chengdu Digital Entertainment Exposition (DEE) between January 16 and 18 next year, will feature a $50,000 Counter-Strike 1.6 tournament as well as a popular RTS game tournament with a total of $10,000 in the prize pool.

Contrast with other continental finals, the Counter-Strike 1.6 tournament will hold the stage in the Asian Continental Finals, while the World of WarCraft tournament will be held at another time. The top two finishers of the Counter-Strike 1.6 tournament will also be granted places in the global finals in Hannover.

Chengdu is a well known eSports friendly city in China and it has been the home for various international events in the past. The offline finals of WC3L Season XIII was scheduled to open in Chengdu, but the disastrous giant earthquake in May near Chengdu made the ESL decided to opt for another metropolis in China, Changsha in the last minute.
