The G7 have reacted promptly to criticism by removing Four Kings (4Kings) and PGS Gaming from the elite group.

The official announcement on the G7 website explained the removal, “we [the G7] need our members to be active and contributing members, community leaders in their respective eSports markets”.

The removal of another founding member and PGS Gaming, who joined the group in August 2007, leaves the group with seven members. fnatic, Made in Brazil , Meet Your Makers, Mousesports, SK Gaming, Team EG, wNv Teamwork and the two American individual representatives within the group, Craig Levine and Jason Lake now represent the G7.

G7 membership policy was heavily criticised in a column on SK Gaming, EG ride the G7 roller coaster, on Tuesday, after the group announced that North American organisation Team EG would be joining the group on a three month trial.

The column highlighted a number of inconsistencies within the G7s decision making. “If the G7 uses weak recruitment policies like they have, then it should be no surprise when they're left with weak organisations.” It went onto identify a number of weak organisations within the group – 4Kings, Made in Brazil, PGS and wNv Teamwork.

Alex Muller, spokesman of the G7 and managing director of SK Gaming, said the criticism was “absolutely false”. Though, the group decided, less than 24 hours after the column was published, that the immediate removal of two organisations in the groups 'August update' was necessary. The group also decided to reword their own position as “an affiliation of top professional e-sports teams and community leaders”.

It's unclear at this moment whether the the group plans to replace the two organisations. Though, the group has stated that the affiliate programme, a project which plans to “represent the best interest of all gamers and organisations” outside of the G7, “will be expanded and better tended to in the coming months to make this a more interactive and engaging relationship”.
