The Singaporean team just managed to take down Kingsurf once again to win the greatest trophy in DotA.Some may remember the clash of the teams in the last ADC, but with the excellent picks and strategies both teams showed up with a different and unexpected side in San Jose.
Both took out the top candidates for the title, and right before the match there was no horse to bet on in this match.
In a 70 minutes game the Singaporeans were on top for most of the time. Especially the last quarter of an hour was a hopeless struggle for the Kingsurfs, trying to pull off the impossible comeback.
By now you can definitely say that zENith is the nemesis of intercontinental competitive DotA - surprisingly after a period of mediocrity with brilliant performances that granted the well deserved victory.
Along with the win comes a cheque with $13,000 and the glory to call themselves the world's best DotA team.
Kingsurf as the runner up get rewarded with $8,000 and MeetYourMakers will fly home with $5,000 for beating Evil Geniuses in the match for the third place.

nonetheless gratz to zenith, a deserved trophy !!
But as many has stated BO1 is in my opinion abit random, get BO3 for next ESWC (Yes, it will take some time, but if it actually has to go to a third match, the teams are most likely even, and that calls for alot of good matches/replays)
Congrats to zenith.
why do ppl start whining about BO1 ???
just becoz their fav team sucked??
zenith won coz they were the best team there and not becoz of the randomness
gz guys !
great logic...
Just for the record its my argument that it would not change from BO1 to BO3 to BOOVER9000... and its your point of view that BO3 is more fair than BO1.
What about a team that has longer than 2 matches to adapt and learn from mistakes? Yes for them BO5 would be 'fairer' than BO3. (attention your logic applied here)
Same goes for BO3 vs. BO1...
True masters learn from their mistakes and adapt to the enemy ingame and dont need 1 match to adapt... your logic is just plain disrespectful towards the asian teams and shows that you still think europ is the mekka of dota and on all other places on earth people need BO1's to win (otherwise they would never ever win those noobs)...
If they cant beat the team in BO3 im sorry to say it but then you've had your chance, This is why i stated YOUR logic BO5. Ofcourse you could give em all the chances in the world and go BO15 or whatever, but that wouldnt be very spectate friendly nor time friendly.
If you're such a huge fan of the Asian teams, why wouldnt you wanna see BO3, Are you afraid they wouldnt be able to perform consistently? Cause im sure they'd done just fine with BO3 aswell.
"True masters" So Zenith wouldnt have had a problem with BO3 then And im really gettin tired of you taking stuff out of the air and writing it, I've never disrespected KS or Zenith so just drop that bullshit now. But if you happend to get outpicked or simply have a bad game you cant always flip that over in a minute, I really dont see how you fail to see my very simple point
That BO3 _IS_ Better for such a prestigeous competition like ESWC, not only for the players but also for the spectators that gets to see more matches.
If you're gonna respond to this please make it worth my while, im really tired to read your stupid shit and making the same responses over and over cause you're to ignorant to see my point.
I dont care AT ALL which teams are the best or which country they're from nor do i say that Europe is the "mekka" of dota i dont know what you're smokin, I want to see good and preferably ALOT of matches between the best teams in the world, so once again you're pulling shit out of the air just to piss me off i assume.
Of course, the above wasn't for real (no, really, it wasn't). Frankly, as experienced as they are, gaming on a competitive level, they should be able to motivate themselves for this ONE match every knockout stage you keep whining about.
I was just wondering; Do you have the same opinion on the World Championship for soccer?
Once again to prevent more people from claiming that i disrespect Zenith or Asian teams: I do not say Zenith are unworthy winners, But for next ESWC they should go BO3. My opinion.
I dont think there is any other games where you loose the game after 1 map or 1 side.
I realise you wanna make a point but there is none, playing both sides is not more then fair, then if both sides are tied, then yea then you can go for a third deciding
I could use all your arguments - which are btw flawed on so many levels - to argue why BO5 is better than BO3 aswell...
But you know what? Yes exactly BO5 would take way too long.. thats the flaw of it and it is aswell the flaw of BO3... why can you see the disadvantage of BO5vsBO3 but not see the same fucking disadvantage in BO3vsBO1?
Did you ever had to postpone your leaguematches twice because the games went on too long? I can tell you it sucks... until those dotamatches get shorten alot BO1 stays way superior to BO3 for the exact reason you give us why BO3 is superior than BO5.
I hope you finally got my point - already scared to death to use sarcasm here because no one gets it...
I really dont see how you could hate on BO3. It's win win for both teams and spectators.
But i could agree with BO3 from quarter/semifinals.
and lungan why would the games be more intresting with BO3 ??
this is not the same as wc3 ladder where u got diffrent maps etc
i think all players at eswc should be professional enough to play a BO1match at 110%
if not they havent deserved the win
i think this just profs that u gotta play all matches at ur best to win
And if you who are complyning on lungan you shold ask your self why in the world you dont want to se the 2 or 3 games insted of 1 in the finals. And in my point of view in the groupe stages aswell. There is no bad teams in eswc so why not let them play a litel more so the comunaty can watch the games and enjoy.
and remember: its an offline event - and so its limited to two days. with people needing some hours to sleep or maybe even some real life (*surprise*) it would be pure horror to play all matches bo3. even if it would be better.
It's common sense Bo3 is more fair than Bo1, there is a reason events rather have Bo3 you know.
But, as most of us know, DotA matches take some time and some events can't afford that.
And I believe the Asian teams took advantage of knowing it was Bo1 and did some surprise attacks (hero choosing and so on), which obviously was a great move. To come up with such thinking beforehand is also a great skill so even if Bo3 is more fair, we still got ourselves a more than worthy champion. Congratz to Zenith!
If those dota guys really want to be professionals they have to bring up the time and be hard working enough to prepare to their enemies beforehand, make up new tactics themselves and hide them/use them for important matches. They also need to analyze and adapt way faster ingame. Imho that is true skill and that gives the spectator the upsets at tournaments and the amazing new strats they really want to see. I dont want to see tactic XY perfected by machines who are too stupid to adapt... I want to see amazing new tactics pulled off by people who did their homework and are able to adapt to their enemy ingame.
Hope you guys finally get why I prefer BO1 over BO3 but hey thats just my opinion and i can live with yours...
Anyway, ofc it's nice and good of ppl to do their homework. It means they have put lots of time and hard work into the game they have chosen to compete in. Personally I like that very much; hard work over skill (I don't say that Zenith or KS don't have any special skill though, ofc they are great players who knows what they're doing).
But, still, it's more fair with Bo3 since you can show of your homework and show the hard time training ingame in the 2nd (/3rd) match. To be able to adapt quickly during ingame and analyzing (and come up with a new strategy) between the games, is also a sign of someone who have played over and over again and put his soul into it.
Bans - both teams pick four bans, while not knowing which bans the other team picks. Then it's showtime. If there are overlappings there are less than 8 heroes banned (e.g. both teams ban zeus)
Playmode could be changed (regardless of bans/picks) to mirror mode. Then it comes down only to team and player skill. This mode can be made more interesting by chosing 5 random heroes sorted by class. So there won't be 5 agi vs 5 agi matches. For the latter icefrog would have to implement such mode ^^
I don't know if this is thought through enough but there are definately ways to make a dota match shorter :)
