After the final of the ESWC between PGS/MYM and eSTRO the question arose as to who actually won the event. Was it PGS Gaming or MYM?The answer is that the Electronic Sports World Cup trophy and the right to defend it belongs to PGS Gaming.
The five Polish players that won the 2008 Grand Final in San Jose played under the name of PGS/MYM but under the license of the title holders PGS. This means that PGS, not MYM will according to the ESWC rules.
If Meet Your Makers want to compete in the ESWC 2009 Grand Final, then they will have to requalify. Meanwhile, PGS Gaming will have the right to field any Counter-Strike team they wish.
The entire story started as PGS Gaming's entire Counter-Strike lineup switched to Meet Your Makers in 2007. The official ruling by Games Services was that the right to defennd the title will stay with the organisation.
After that, Meet Your Makers failed to qualify for the ESWC 2008 Grand Final due to missing the Polish preliminary and doing badly in ESWC Masters of Paris. PGS Gaming threw the Danish organisation a lifeline offering that a team called PGS/MYM would play in San Jose.
PGS/MYM won the tournament but Meet Your Makers will not be recognised as the ESWC 2008 champion by Games Services.

thats sucks...now they should give the victory PGS and MYM, but the rights to play for players not 1 team ;p
I think next year MYM is gonna be MYM and PGS will find 5 decent players (If there's any kind of national pride I'd hire FX line-up personnally).
Who cares? Community will recognise MYM as World Champion, just f*ck Games Services.
http://www.mymym.com/en/ "MYM.CS wins ESWC 2008". Not one word about PGS.
But overall the win is thanks to PGS. No matter how good your players are, if you don't have a spot to attent the finals there's no way you gonna win ;)
ESWC back to Paris where it belongs!!
Please keep in mind that we shared the slot for esport & community and it was our free will. There was no pressure on it. It is really sick when i read posts suggesting PGS deception here or smth like it...
Sometimes when i read such comments I'am really losing motivation... and asking myself about sense of spending hours last months to work out this situation.
More esport, less money, less bias and finally less non-fact-based accusations, seriously please. We are killing what we have been creating for some years that way... :(

Martin,
PGS Gaming ltd manager. (team D-Link PGS)
No one is denying that it was the MYM quintet that won the event.
And ESWC, please change this rules:)
you all should thank pgs for giving mym the chance to play @ eswc, seriously.
You really need to get out more.
