ZTN3Tourney1 was the first map in his Grand Final against the German pride Marcel 'k1llsen' Paul, who definitely went a lot further than many would expect. After tense and smart fighting Cypher won the map 19:7.
The second map was pro-Q3DM6, a map that Cypher lost to K1llsen in the previous Group stage, so he knew that he will most likely be in danger and that it won't be that easy for him to control the pace of the game. The Belorussian was in the lead at first, but every time he got ahead, the German pushed the score to a tie. The game continued like that till sudden death mode.
This was the true nail biting moment of the match as both players really wanted to win. K1llsen so he could play the third map and Cypher so he doesn't play the last map and is crowned champion without a nerve breakdown.
After both players stacked up they "willingly" engaged in the last clash near the red armour and the fight was so close and over so fast that no one really knew who won and only after the score board appeared everyone saw that Alexei 'Cypher' Yanushevsky is the ESWC 2008 Quake 3 champion.
