Hunter changes for Wrath

ImageChanges are coming for the Hunter making it a lot more viable in PVE and PVP environments, its abilities will be changed to make it a better support class in group or raid play.

Distracting Shot will now turn into a Mocking Blow-like taunt allowing the Hunter to easier pull mobs towards him into traps making him more viable as a CC class in dungeon environments.

This new change to Distracting Shot can also be a nice touch in PVP as you can use it to buy time for your teammate, allowing him to drink. Camouflage will be introduced at level 80 and will give you limited stealth capabilities. Furthermore, Hunters in Camouflage will be able to set traps without breaking the stealth effect.

Freezing Trap and Trap Mastery are getting changed as well, with Trap Mastery turning into a one-point talent and will buff each of your traps with a unique bonus. It will for example root the dispeller of Freezing Trap in ice, more snakes from your Snake Trap and increased damage on Immolation Trap.

Freezing Trap is also getting changed so it does not break on damage 100% of the time, instead it will break on x amount. They will also be removing Bear Trap as Freezing Trap will now accomplish what Bear Trap was intended for.

Blizzard has been discussing different options for improving traps over the years. Ideas they came up with included turning your traps into shots and shooting or throwing them but in the end Blizzard felt that they wanted to keep the unique style of traps and improve them without having to re-invent them.

Silencing Shot will turn into a proper interrupt, making it more viable in PVE but also buffing it for PVP in the process. More buffs on the horizon PVP-wise would be Intimidation being changed to an instant stun instead of relying on the pet’s next attack and Disengage will turn into a reverse Blink, causing the Hunter to jump back 10-15 yards to gain distance with a 30 second cooldown.

Probably the biggest changes made to the Hunter class will put a smile on every Hunter’s face as Blizzard has removed the cooldown of Hunting Party (tier 10) talent, and they are making Trueshot Aura affect the whole raid and not just your five man group.
