The current Polish MYM squad won the ESWC 2007 when they were still part of PGSGaming a bit more than a year ago. Only a few months later they left the whole team left the organisation to join up with MYM and were confident to defend their title.

But the ESWC rules state that the berth goes to the organisation which was PGSGaming in this case. PGS were able to send any team as long as they play under their flag but they announced to not re-build a Counter-Strike team.

PGSGaming rather offered their slot to MYM which would have to play under a double-name. As reported they refused the offer which was not involving any money and wanted to qualify for themselves.

So MYM only had two possibilities left, winning the Polish ESWC Qualifier or placing top 3 at the ESWC Masters which were held in July. They decided to skip the ESWC qualifier in order to play the KODE5 Grand Finals and were most likely aiming to place top 3 at the ESWC Masters.

They ended up being knocked out during the groupstage at ESWC Masters already with losing to Alternate and mousesports due to direct comparison and only the top two advancing. This meant the ESWC 2007 Champion would not be able to defend their title being a big loss for the tournament but also spectators.

Now PGSGaming once again offered their spot to the team to play as PGS-MYM during the event. Both the ESWC and MYM now agreed to handle it this way and we will be able to see them trying to defend their crown.

The ESWC Grand Finals are taking place in late August shortly after the Games Convention from August 25th to 27th 2008.
