Yesterday the ESL announced a replacement for the upcoming ESL European Nations Championship Finals due to France not being able to attend. Spain will therefor replace them during the GamesConvention in August.

Four teams are qualified for the ESL ENC Finals again this year with Denmark, Germany, Sweden and now Spain. France cancelled their participation due to the ESWC Grand Final being held just a few days after the ENC.

Spain was defeated by France in the Relegation Match a month ago so they are the first team chosen to replace France. The ESL ENC Finals will take place at this years Games Convention again from August 21st to 24th 2008.

According to esportsfrance, emuLate and Millenium players decided not to participate since the dates of the ESWC Grand Finals and ENC Finals are so close (ESWC San Jose starts the 25th and Games Convention ends on the 24th...). I wonder how the players from the other countries will manage to play a whole week end in Leipzig and still be able to play decently in the USA the next day (thay'll probably take a night flight and then with the jet lag and tiredness... bye bye on group stage). But well, they decide for themselves.

The last match in ENC will be played on 22nd august, Friday, so they have two days to fly to USA (enough imho).
