Previous WCG China Finals gold medalist Yanchao “Lyc” Lu was announced as the first addition to the WC3 team of Mousesports since its recent shake-up.Lyc is considered to be among the top-flight players in China. The Night Elf player has crowned various regional qualification champions and was the title holder of WCG China last year. However he failed to earn visa to the host country USA later and was replaced by Liwei 'xiaOt' Sun.
Ever since then, the former Colorful key player has seldom featured for his team nor in individual tournaments. Hence the 21-year-old was linked with a move away from Colorful and his ESL account once appeared in team eXpertise’s profile, though the player later insisted it was simply a “mistake”.
After making the team's best achievement and finishing second in WC3L Season XIII Finals, Mousesports stated “they were not happy with the feeling within the Warcraft3 team”, and released three core players of Kim 'SaSe' Hammar, Yoan 'ToD' Merlo and Dmitriy 'Happy' Kostin. In spite of the organization insisting they wanted to build a new team, they were speculated to release the whole WC3 squad.
The recruitment of Lyc simply rubbished all the rumours and showed signs of the Germans building a Chinese team as the team now consists of three Chinese, while team captain Dennis 'HasuObs' Schneider being the only European.
