24 top Chinese players converged on Shanghai as WCG2008 China Finals got under way earlier today. Though the sluggish live video stream was not quite audience friendly like most of the other Chinese events and without streams like Waaagh!TV and GGTV, the tournament was run pretty smoothly.

Most of the notable contenders such as Weiliang 'Fly100%' Lu, Liwei 'xiaOt' Sun and Kejing 'Like' Li advanced from their respective groups to the double elimination playoffs without much trouble, with the only exception of the ESWC2008 China Finals champion. Seeded as one of the high seeds and drawn into a relatively average group, TH000 was considered one of the big favourites in this tournament. However, the wNv player was plagued by the Night Elf players and the match format of best of one. Losing to Shenghui 'Future' Li, Hao 'suhO' Su and Xinyu 'Tyler' Xiu, TH000 could only pursue his WCG dream next year.

The Finals will continue with the delayed matches of Group A tomorrow. Since Sky had to participate Seoul e-Star 2008 these two days, the committee agreed to postpone all the matches of Group A to July 26. Coming back from the disappointing e-Star 2008, where he lost both of his games, the two times WCG champion is going to have another tough day as his teammates Xuwen 'infi' Wang and Zhuo 'TeD' Zeng are awaiting. One of them will have to join TH000 in the audience seat at the least. Who will prevail?
