It's the first time DotA will be seen at the ESWC Grand Finals, and a lot of problems seem to be not fixed yet. Doc. DotA has the right cure! The ESWC Masters of Paris is over and many people in the DotA community felt disappointed about the event. The game did not get the treatment it should have. Doc. DotA thinks it is not enough to just put up an tournament - you need to show your audience that it is there.
Doc. DotA has taken a good look at the patient him to be sickly. Below is the treatment prescribed so that the ESWC Grand Final is a glaring success.
Improved online coverage
Doc. DotA has not seen video streams for web browsers or the famous GGTV. There were no decent audio commentators that would guide the audiences through the games. Thousands of DotA fans would love to follow the event live from home.
More live presence
The ESWC administration should put the top games of the tournament on the stage. It does not have to be a huge one but a stage nonetheless, just to give credit back to the community and show the audience why they chose DotA as a newcomer game this year. And why the ESWC wants to carry DotA into the spotlight of esports. In Paris the games were held in a cellar while most of the people didn't even know where DotA was played.
Spectator improvements
This patient needs to put work into information sheets with statistics for all the hardcore fans, showing up all the ratios that tell us so much about the structure and flow of the game. On top of this DotA-specific information panels in the DotA area are needed so everyone can see which teams play against each other next and some more information about picks and bans of the running games as well.
Player improvements
Doc. DotA suggests that, unlike in Paris, hotkey tools like warkeys are allowed and installed before the games start, and the screens of the computers will be new ones because the quality of some monitors in Paris was bad. The players will appreciate air conditioning in San Jose, as the heat in the hall irritated a lot of players and spectators in the Palais Omnisport du Bercy.
The qualifying system
This year the top dogs had to attend to the ESWC Masters to qualify but small DotA countries like e.g. Germany, who don't even have a single team in the elite of the DotA world, had their qualifiers. National partners in the countries with strong DotA scenes should be asked nicely not to treat DotA like an orphan so more world class teams attend the world finals.
Many of the best teams in the world were not playing at ESWC while a couple of unknown underdogs just made it because they had an easier way to catch the tickets. With a qualifier in Scandinavia the tournament in San Jose would be much more attractive.
As The Doc. finished his examination, he exchanged his thoughts with the patient on how sorry they are for the Asian teams who won't go to America because of visa problems at the embassy.
Doc. DotA's conclusion
Hopefully Doc Dota's patient remembers all this when he is back to work, so we all can experience a great event pushing our beloved game to a higher level of acceptance. Professional surroundings are the roots of future success - never forget this, please!

At the end a german internet braodcast stream wanted to coverage and stream some parts of the finals, but eswc didnt allowed it due to the reason, they (eswc) wanted to stream it themselves. Finally even this failed because they streamed a FarCry 2 ingame video instead...
I totally agree with Doc DotA, ESWC has to change there a lot regarding DotA...
And 8 qualifiers for 40+ countries... omfg
