MYM.DotA to revolve soon?

ImageThe DotA division of MeetYourMakers seems to need some deep changes if they want to march on the same route like they did before they stumbled upon the patch changes.

Situation

If you can count one and one together, you might already have thought about a major line up change in the world famous DotA team of the Danish company.

They added Martin 'Pusher' Morgensen to their lineup for the ESWC, and their player Brian 'MaNia-' Strandby stated to SK-Gaming that he will play the DotA-Masters #9 semi final for the hugest professional DotA team world wide.

Problem?

So MeetYourMakers has four Danes in their team, their team captain Jacob 'Maelk' Toft-Andersen, Brian 'MaNia-' Strandby, Lasse 'slahser' Malver and their latest addition Martin 'Pusher' Morgensen.

To this 80% finished line up for most of the DotA team come two more Germans, Kai 'H4nn1-' Hanibückers and Levent 'LevenT' Isyapar.

Just like this would be not enough to play DotA on a decent level, three more Americans perform under the command of the Danes. Ben 'Merlini' Wu, Walter 'p0c' Lu and Clinton 'Fear' Loomis.

But even this is not enough for them, they also count the Canadian John 'ezy' Chow as their team member.

In summary Meet Your Makers consists of ten people now. Some might say that this is a mess, but until the last patch their strategy worked very well.

But the leadership of Jacob 'Maelk' Toft-Andersen seems to be in trouble since IceFrog made the major changes teams like The elder Gods or SK-Gaming like so much.

Clinton 'Fear' Loomis, who was in Paris with Meet Your Makers but did not play was helping his leader with the picks to make, and that is definitely not a good sign for the constitution of the team.

But not only their picks did not match the requirements of v6.52d lately, MYM.DotA seems to suffer under the circumstance that they have no longer a regular lineup.

Yesterday they played with their Americans, today they might play with their European team and who knows their next games line up?

It looks like some of their players lost the motivation to spend a lot of their free time on DotA, and its known that once a team starts to suffer from missing motivation it gets harder with every day to cure this 'illness'

But MeetYourMakers has to find a strong lineup soon. They did so much for DotA, and especially for the competitive scene of the community.

They organize the famous Prime Defendings, and since some weeks also the Prime Defending League. It would be horrible to see those events without a successful MYM team.

Possible solutions

One option will be to part from most of the players, pick out a leader (new or old) and tell him to form a new roster out of new and remaining players.
This is the option to take if Jacob 'Maelk' Toft-Andersen can overcome his time of averageness.

Another thought is that MeetYourMakers reduces their roster to a core of two to four players who really like each other, who fit together as a team and who want to make the come back as a team. Adding some new faces who drool over for titles and fame not so hard, and a lot of other teams proved that this way of rehabilitation works fine.

The third possible option is to release everyone from their contracts. Teams like perhaps The Elder Gods perform quite well and still lack of a big name to carry them to important events.
If this break with their famous players can help no one knows, but the possibility to lose everything is far too high - so it will remain as a emergency brake if no other option works.

Conclusion

Whatever they do, in the name of competition we all should hope that they make a great come back. MeetYourMakers has the experience to do it, and their squad does not lack of the individual abilities - they only need to focus on themselves again.

Let's hope they will make a great comeback - DotA needs big brands, and DotA needs teams like MeetYourMakers
