East beats West in ESWC Masters Q3

ImageThe semi final pairs in the ESWC Masters of Paris will be av3k vs. Cypher and Jibo vs. fox. The tournament is not over for ZeRo4 and czm who will play an additional game for the ticket to the ESWC Grand Final in San Jose.

The quarterfinal draw was quite cruel to John 'ZeRo4' Hill who got the strongest possible group runner up, Maciek 'av3k' Krzykowski. The American defeated av3k on hub3 and played very impressively, but the youngster turned it around on DM6 and DM9 completely. His ability to keep control was just as good as from his Quake 4 times.

The second quarterfinal eliminated the last American from the competition. Alexei 'Cypher' Yanushevsky devastated Paul 'czm' Nelson on ZTN and beat him on T4 in a close game. This meant that the Belarussian player won himself a berth to San Jose.

So did Zhibo 'RazerJ' Fan, although he was hanging on a very thin thread in his quarterfinal against Karl 'fooKi' Johansson from SK Gaming. He won 2-1 after very close games.

The last quarterfinal was played between Magnus 'fox' Olsson and Richard 'noctis' Gansterer. The Austrian surely managed to impress a lot of people in the tournament. And even here he managed to win the first map, but in the end it wasn't enough as Fox won the match 2:1.

The semi finals will be played tomorrow, but it is already known that Cypher and Jibo are qualified. The only question mark in terms of who is going to go to San Jose will be removed tomorrow as ZeRo4 will play czm for the third spot.
