Following their loss to MouseSports, Meet Your Makers are now are out of the competition in the group stage and their chances of the Grand Finals in San Jose vanish.

Due to the fact MYM lost to Alternate, they required Team Alternate to lose their last remaining match against Neophyte but Team Alternate won thus ending MYM's run in the competition.

When under their previous team, PGS, they were ESWC Champions but they will now not be able to defend their title.

Meanwhile Fnatic's fate also hangs in the balance, their loss to Roccat early in the group stage means they must defeat SoA. SoA have only taken one point so far from their games, drawing 15-15 with MiBR.

However that will not be enough to ensure Fnatic a place in the playoffs. They also must rely on Roccat defeating MiBR incase they did lose to SoA to avoid MiBR jumping above them in the group. Fnatic's fate rests in the hands of the Finns.

That's not correct fnatic will make it through if they beat SoA regardless if mibr defeats Roccat. mibr sits at 4 points and fnatic 6, a win for mibr would give them 7 points in total and if fnatic wins over SoA they will have 9.

MYM finished 2nd in groupstage therefore they advance to playoffs. Round difference is what matters.

So if there are 2 teams that ends with the same points, but one won over another, the result will be that the winning team will go through despite the other team having as much points as them ?
What's the reason for playing all 30 rounds then?

The same system is in the Euro and World cups of football as well. Goal difference (or round difference) is only secondary - and that's a pretty damn good system.

they didnt win the qualifier, but im pretty sure sk funded the dk eswc organisers in order to buy another spot? Either that or someone dropped out due to visa issues and SK.dk came second in the national qualifier and because they were former champs were allowed to take the spot.

They came second at the qualifier but the ESWC granted Denmark an extra spot because a team from another country announced it wasn't going to attend the grand finals, I think.

Roccat defeating mibr or not has nothing to do with fnatic advancing (while winning vs SoA)

2008 anit a good year for mym.
the "loss" now 2 big tournaments... 1st eswc paris and 2nd eswc usa (coz they not going there) :((((
