Shortly after the new Warcraft III patch, The Electronic Sports World Cup organisers have decided that they will stay with the old 1.21 version of the game.Just several hours after Blizzard released the new 1.22 Warcraft III patch, the Warcraft and DotA communities weren't really sure whether the ESWC Masters, which will take place this weekend, should use the new and possibly bugged version or the old a tested.
For the Warcraft players it would only change the factor that the players wouldn't have had enough time to acclimatise with the new balance issues and changes. Whereas the DotA scene went into panic as it turns out the patch created loads of bugs within the game and the developers weren't sure that they could fix everything in time.
But to settle things down and to make sure things go as planned without any unnecessarily errors the ESWC organisers have announced that they will stick with the old patch.
Also the group stage matches will be played in BO3 format and not BO2.

This patch been tested for 6 months dumb retard, it's about fucking time they are gonna start playing and now they still use the old version ONLY cause of the dota problem.
Thanks for the 1.21 link but now plan-b, who wants to practise in 1.21? exactly nobody, so its useless
its just a one map
However, imagine if your strategy was a tower defence or tower rush, with ESWC Masters so close, surely you cant expect the individuals to change there proven game plan, only days before the comp. After ESWC go to the new patch, and let people prac and strat it up again.
Also, what if it was discovered that in the new patch, if you say have "3 units standing in a triangle, and u repeatably press the L key then the S key while spamming the O key u somehow get 500g" would people use this and except not to get banned ?
patches are always buggy when they try and "balance" things. let it iron itself out and try it next comp.
Stopped reading there.
ELS kills warcraft, now ESWC continues the trend. Shit happens when idiots are in deciding postions, but hey, welcome to politics.
The Dota problem is fixed already or can easily be fixed by switching between patches,so the only reason left for this is that the Wc3 pros "have no time to get used to 1.22".
THAT'S WHAT THEY GET PAID FOR, DAMNIT. Another kick in the face of the Wc3 community.
About time we got the patch and now they are procrastinating even more.
thats all.
They should use 1.22. Obviously because of replays, but at least the LITTLE bit of balance issues the patch solved would help :/
As far as the DOTA problem goes, ESWC made the decision before the bugs were fixed and they had no way of knowing it would have been solved so quickly. It would have been more of a problem if they had waited until right before the event to make a final decision, they were forced to make a quick decision and they chose the safer bet.
