The Authenticator, a small physical tool, is Blizzards newest product which ensures you your World of Warcraft account safety. The system how it works is pretty much the same as many Banks have for their Internet services. A small device which generates an assigned specific number of digits, for Blizzard it's six.
This tool will cost $6.50 and will be for sale at the Blizzard store and the Blizzard Worldwide Invitational in Paris. As for size it wont be bigger than anything you couldn't attach to your keyring.
As the Blizzard Authenticator FAQ (link via kotaku) says, a person can apply the extra security measure to more than one account.

"What is a digital code and where do I see it?
The digital code is a six-digit numeric code that is produced when you press the button on the front of your Blizzard Authenticator. Each code is unique and is valid only once.
Where do I enter the digital code when I log in to World of Warcraft or to Account Management?
After you enter the account name and password, you’ll be prompted to provide the digital code from your Blizzard Authenticator. You must press the button on your Authenticator and enter the code it displays to complete your login.
Can I apply my Blizzard Authenticator to more than one account?
Yes! You’re welcome to associate a single Blizzard Authenticator to as many accounts as you like. Please remember that you must have that Authenticator with you to log in to any of these accounts afterwards."

Maybe after a mass of phone calls saying...
"I've lost my authenticator..."
You should pay for being stupid and download random .exe files with keyloggers in them.
I do not care
It must be possible since blizzard says this;
"Can I apply my Blizzard Authenticator to more than one account?
Yes! You’re welcome to associate a single Blizzard Authenticator to as many accounts as you like."
meaning the authenticator isn't personal? correct me if i'm wrong though
would be fun trying to log in one day and seeing "please add authentication code" or something
the only problem is, with such a huge community, someone will find a way around the authenticator sooner or later and for that, they can't just send a new patch every time they want lol.
haven't see one neither i know how it really works, better wait a couple of weeks to see how it goes.
even though that sounds far-fetched, you knever know
"Please remember that you must have that Authenticator with you to log in to any of these accounts afterwards."
simple and clean, you need the username and password to associate an account with an authenticator and if someone else you don't trust at all knows yours, then you're dumb.
/sarcasme off
They do not profit on such a thing, they just give it a reasonable price (you can afford it I hope) so that not every single player requests one.. aka 50+ milion lost...
Lots of ppl im playing with get hacked constantly and i dont feel sorry for them even though they are my friends because as mentioned above aswell, IT IS YOUR OWN FAULT.
