Retro 1on1 with Anton "Cooller" Singov

By Michal 'Carmac' Blicharz
Jun 25, 2008 02:43

ImageThis week's 1on1 interview goes back four long years to bring you a never-before-published interview with the then 17 year old Anton "Cooller" Singov.

Every Wednesday we serve you 1on1 interview, but this one is very special. This one should be a real gem for fans of Quake, as it as rare as Juha-Matti 'Satiini' Bäckström's appearance at a LAN. It is from the lost tapes of the ESWC.

It's July 2004 and Anton 'Cooller' Singov is at the peak of his fame. 18 months earlier, he made a an explosive international debut when he beat John 'ZeRo4' Hill in the group stage at the 2002 World Cyber Games and lost a game to make sure he does not go through to the playoffs. In July 2003 he beat ZeRo4 again, this time in the ESWC final to win his first major trophy.

The interview takes place at the 2004 ESWC. Michal "Carmac" Blicharz and Cooller talk about Quake 3, ZeRo4 and Cooller himself. Originally planned for Simon Bysshe's ESReality Uncut 2.

For those of you that are interested in the match Cooller mentions, you can find the Tourney 2 match here.
