Manuel "Grubby" Schenkhuizen responds to supposedly viscious slander against his name in a post-WC3L playoff interview, as well as speaking his views on the event in general.Much has been said about the conduct of Manuel 'GrubbY' Schenkhuizen during the WC3L Season XIII Finals in Changsa, China. However Grubby has now had an opportunity to lay his side of the story out on the table.
The major incident which provoked a heated response from the Chinese community happened during the first map of 2 versus 2 match between MYM and Mouz on Avalanche.
Due to some connection issues Weiliang 'Fly100%' Lu lagged out but fortunately the game was saved before he did so, however before the saved game was loaded, Grubby was seen to be watching the replay of the beginning of the match.
There is no rule saying a player is not allowed to watch a replay after a saved game however there are people who believe the act was unethical and against the spirit of fair play.
Here is an extract from the interview relating to the incident:
However, it is more of a moral issue. Morally, I felt it is wrong what I did in the game vs Fly & Yumiko. I am sorry for what I did and I apologised to Fly personally, and also to the WC3L staff. When something is morally wrong, usually a rule should be found to prevent such behaviour."

Grubby: I believe Mouz vs MYM 2v2 issue was a moral issue. Officially, it is not in the ESL rulebook that you may not watch the replay after the game is saved. I didn't break any rules. However, it is more of a moral issue. Morally, I felt it is wrong what I did in the game vs Fly & Yumiko. I am sorry for what I did and I apologised to Fly personally, and also to the WC3L staff. ok, then wish you reach the intelligence level that you are dreaming of .....
why wach a replay if you are the best and you know u can beat him...
greedy...must win must win with all causes...shame on him
any1 playing wc3 knows how curious one gets after a game when during the game something happens that one did not expect
you want to know what really happened there; maybe the curiosity got the best of him I dont know
Even though this is probably a PR gag to improve the image of MYM in general, it's good grubby gave some sort of statement anyway.
I don't see why he is bringing in every dissatisfaction he has with chinese tournaments when this has nothing to do with the replay-watching issue. It doesn't really make you look better by putting the spotlight on the allegedly bad and unprofessional chinese tournament organizers.
I watch those chinese warcraft commentators regularly and yes they shout stuff like what the player should be doing and also shout the names of the units the players are making. But they do this in every game as their style of shoutcasting and grubby portrayed it as them purposely shoutcasting in favor of mym's opponent which couldn't be further from the truth.
By the way, they always use "warden" and never use the chinese equivalent in all the times I watched the streams and not because they want to help Tod which is quite a big accusation in itself.
So... I don't get what the issue is? Apparently all you people criticizing him are perfect ? He made a mistake, everyone makes mistakes, get over it. Unless you're perfect (please feel free to prove me wrong), you're just hypocrites jumping on someone who has made the mistake, rather than yourself.
How would you feel if you were in his position? Sometimes you do things which in hindsight clearly should not have been done or acted on impulse instead of reasoning.
GL .
Fly has its peace with it according to replays.net, so why cant you just accept that it wasnt a big deal.

wc3 need your help
wc3 in love ;)
I think you have it the other way...
but i dont think i can always make mistakes and then come to apologize
grubby was able to avoid this absolutely
and he isnt that sincere in this iview imo
the game not beeing stopped while a player is hurt doesn't match this at all... this would be more like a player breaking his arm while playing ;p
however I don't like watching soccer anyway so *cut*
Here's mine: What's happened, has happened. Though Grubby didn't violate any rule of the league he was playing, he broke the unwritten rules of good sportsmanship.
He admitted that he did the wrong thing by viewing the replay, but I can in a way understand what he did. I could see myself in a situation that I want to see and learn, because someone succeeded in a thing I tried to prevent. Not necessarily to find out something to beat the opponent, though this is possible too, but merely to satisfy your lust for knowledge and to have a chance of understanding what you did wrong there and there. As for myself, that's the best way to learn. :p
After such an incident, there's not much one can do. He can say he's sorry, he doesn't have to be sorry. In a way, it's admitting: Guilty as charged.. But if he'd go on with: "...punish me with anything you see necessary." most of the people around here would be blaming him of "hypocricy" etc. So, what's the idea of doing anything in Grubbys position?..
I personally think he has now understood what kind of harm his actions caused to his opponents chances and wanted to apologize from the whole scene, rather than only Fly and the WC3L -staff - which he did right on spot, based on the interview.
It may not fix anything, but it's the only thing I see he could do.
If a part of the WC3 community wants to charge Grubby with stupid arguments, i would just say that Fly shouldn't have lagged (it is stupid argument too, but it is the beginning of the buzz).
I would be most grateful if you can tell me where I can get a Chinese version. But anyway, why don't you just tell me where the rule I was referring to is in English version to save the trouble? Have you ever read the rules by yourself?
