June “Lyn” Park’s dream of lifting the trophy has fallen apart after committing defeats to Xiaofeng “Sky” Li and Weiliang “Fly100%” Lu.The opener today between Lyn and Sky appeared to be the encounter of same style as last time. Massing armor upgraded gryphon strategy continues to be a mystery for the SK Gaming player, or rather dizzied by his opponent’s scintillating micro control.
Lyn tried to expand together with his counterpart at the same time and produced enough troll batriders to counter gryphons, but Sky beautifully seperated his gryphons, which had the maximum armor, in the crucial fight. This move made Lyn lost all of his batriders for nothing and opened up an undeniable food supply lead in both the first and the third round. The PGL Season I title holder sequently knocked Lyn down to the lower bracket and proceeded to the final stage.
Bemused Lyn was further frustrated by Mousesports’ Orc star. He killed Fly100%’s three grunts in middle game at Tidewater Glades with brilliant usage of Shadow Hunter’s hex, but he failed to take advantage of it later and lost his game after wasting his units’ damage on a rejuvenated kodo beast. A following poor performance from the Korean in the second round put an end to his second PGL campaign.
After conceding a 0-1 disadvantage in his upper bracket semi-finals match against Xiang 'TH000' Huang, holder Jae Ho 'Moon' Jang pulled off a magnificent comeback to maintain his grip on the title. On the other hand, a loss to Moon did not faze the wNv talent. He got the better of hot in the lower bracket later on and stacked up the number of Chinese players in the final stage to three.
The best of five, single elimination final stage will kick off with the encounter of the two finalists last season, while Fly100% and TH000 will fight their way to the overall final in the following match.
