SK Gaming’s June “Lyn” Park endured the 0-1 disadvantage and clinched a 2-1 comeback against Mykhaylo “HoT” Novopashyn. He will take on the currently undefeated Xiaofeng “Sky” Li in tomorrow’s opener.Though the situation stacked against the former SK Gaming player after losing his expansion to Lyn in the first round at Snow Drop, HoT put up a good fight when the two were engaged in the decisive crossfire. He detonated a couple of his wisps at the start of that encounter and successfully drained all the mana of Lyn’s Level 3 Shadow Hunter as well as a few Spirit Walkers. HoT widened the gap between the two as much as 30 food after that fight. Failing to destroy HoT’s nature’s blessing upgraded expansion with a mere 40 food army contrasted with his opponent’s 70, Lyn typed gg.
Starting at Twisted Meadows in the second round, HoT deployed almost the same opening as he did against Lyn in group stage. Without building a single ancient of war, he upgraded his tree of life even faster than usual. Lyn did not keep his mind cool when his second hero Tauren Chieftain came out and kept focusing on HoT’s Demon Hunter and Beast Master near HoT's base. He was not able to kill either hero of HoT as the latter once again displayed fine usage of staff of preservation, while losing around three grunts out of four to his counterpart. However, Lyn effectively halted HoT’s 60 food Talon push later by wandering nearby HoT’s base. Feared of Lyn’s possible “base-trade” strategy, HoT teleported back to his base straight after seeing Lyn’s Blade Master. Lyn then screwed up HoT’s advantage by running around the map and built expansion in an unexpected position in the meantime. He slowly built a 70 food army and levelled up his Tauren Chieftain whilst HoT was just running around to catch Lyn's army. Lyn then caught HoT creeping the Mercenary Camp and equalised the score after killing HoT's treble heroes.
The third game at Tidewater Glades progressed pretty tightly as neither of them gained clear advantage from each other. The game broke even when Lyn creepjacked the Ukrainian. The Gravitas player lost his Demon Hunter during that fight and later on his mercenary. He left the game when Lyn was approaching his base and sent his former team-mate to semi-finals.
Lyn’s next challenger is the top seed Sky, who kept his sheet in this tournament clean after defeating his compatriot Hao 'suhO' Su with a 2-1 victory. Lyn lost their last encounter at Neo Star League Season 2 Finals in spite of winning three rounds out of five. Human’s mass armor upgraded gryphons remain an unsolved problem for the 22-year-old. We will see what kind of surprises the Korean Orc player will pull out of his sleeves tomorrow at 12:00 CET. The winner between them will move on to the final stage while the loser will meet Weiliang 'Fly100%' Lu in the lower bracket.
Defending champion Jae Ho 'Moon' Jang and Xiang 'TH000' Huang will go head to head in the other semi-finals match later tomorrow after sending Fly100% and Kim 'SaSe' Hammar to the lower bracket respectively today. HoT became the only European player who remains in the tournament after eliminating the impressive suhO while SaSe lost his second straight game today against his Mousesports team-mate Fly100%.
