The battle against violent video games seems not to end in the United States even though Jack Thompson's career is near end. Now a Virginian pastor has an idea to burn violent videogames as well as gangsta rap.A 42 years-old pastor Richard Patrick and his church are presenting an event, which drivels similarity to a rally, where many churches are embracing video game nights in plan to get more youth related into churches. Patrick's idea is however a bit different as he would like to see videogames, especially violent ones and gangster rap as well, to be burned.
Patrick says in DailyPress (via GamePolitics) that they are considering to organize an event, where parents and children can bring CDs and video games, which might be "destructive" to the mind set of the youth, and finally give these CDs and videogames a real burning.
"Young people are being influenced by what they see and what they hear," Patrick notes, "they are being influenced by television." Patrick continued to say television and videos are telling young people a vision, but something that is not reality.
"Violent media has a tremendous influence on young people and violence. That's basically all they see," he says, "most of them try to emulate what they see, when in reality, the people they see don't even live in those communities."

Damn right, plus I like rap music... I got to be real real dangerous... gimme a gun !
Sad thing is, I think more people go on "killing sprees" or more murders are driven by religious fnatics or some religious nut then there are because someone played a video game. O well block these kinds of people never look within only blame the things surrounding them.
Rap is just a style of music, some songs are "violent" and should be censured and others are "correct", this pastor didn't know this "world" 30 years old, he should grow up.
Ok just take a ticket and wait for your turn Mr Patrick...
Burn Him first !
Why not Blues and Sims ? :S
companies should buy some guns of their own.Nice logic though...
The most annoying thing in the world is when people try to start talking things right behind their religion, gtfo.
I hope he has a look at this: http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/8231/faithuq8.jpg
"Religion is the root of all evil"
Ahem don't get ahead of yourself. Certainly it has caused many wrongs, but religions have existed for as long as the homo sapiens asked himself what was the sun or the moon...
Over the millenniums it has caused many deaths, but only because of people being so fanatic about their beliefs and trying to impose them on others (just as the Americans did with capitalism, U.R.S.S. with communism, Germany with Nazism - with Millions of deaths).
To solve that people should start more tolerating that people don't have the same beliefs, and accept them (even if many people despise the Chinese government for its propaganda, in the end all the Chinese have their own opinion and any most of them would be peace and respect).
Back to religion, the ten commandments are simple facts for us now, occidental civilisation has been raised to these beliefs for over 2000 years. Christian ism has brought us a considerable amount of wisdom (Why do you think we hold human rights so dear but that the Asian's don't ?).
Religion was just a way of answering questions. When people don't understand things they can be reckless and even more destructive (sorcery in medieval age). Let's be thankful that in the end peaceful religions prevailed, imagine if instead we had had a religion such as the Mayans had with human sacrifice ?
I mean it's a really deep subject and controversial subject, but what I think is that all in all it wasn't so bad to growing up with beliefs such as fraternity, love, honesty, etc... :)
its so easy to get guns here, if i really wanted to, i could go to my neighbor and ask him to buy me a gun and he probably would, he has a lisense for it and its only a matter of 72 hour before he actualy get the gun and its in my possession.
