The regular online season of the German ESL Pro Series Season 12 just finished a week ago and the final event is already taking place this weekend. Five different games are being played with six tournaments in Counter-Strike 1.6, Warcraft III, Counter-Strike: Source, FIFA 2008 5on5, FIFA 2008 1on1 and World in Conflict.

The event is going to take place at the EXPO XXI-Cologne starting on Friday, 6th June 2008 at 18:00 CET. In this season the teams are fighting for a total prizemoney of 170.000€ again which is split into all the different games and also bonuses for winning games, being on time at Intel Friday Night Games.

Counter-Strike 1.6

In Counter-Strike 1.6, both favorites managed to qualify being current champion Team ALTERNATE and mousesports together with n!faculty and pod . While Alternate and mousesports struggled a bit during the season, n!faculty secured their spot pretty confident beating all finals participants during the season. Pod were able to place fourth but lost to all attendees so they are clearly the underdog.

Warcraft III

In Warcraft III, current champion Dennis 'HasuObs' Schneider was not able to qualify for the finals only placing sixth but being tied with Miou, insolence and TryDying by points. But both new comers Tim 'HLA' Gebel and Daniel 'ixi' Spenst placed first and second during the season and are the favorites this time. Still Daniel 'miou' Holthuis the six-time champion prepared good with HasuObs and also has the most offline experience which can favor him.

FIFA 2008

For FIFA 2008 5on5 the two biggest rivals SK Gaming and mTw qualified again and hoorai together with will complete the tournament. SK Gaming is the current but also four-time champion now and beat mTw quite a few times coming from the Lowerbracket. Those two teams are obviously the favorites again but being a underdog takes alot of pressure of you, so maybe competo or hoorai can surprise here.

Three out of four attendees for the FIFA 2008 1on1 belong to SK Gaming being Daniel 'hero' Schellhase, Jannik 'Era' Huber and Joshua 'Kr0ne' Begehr while the last one is from mTw, Nils 'niLssoN' Nolting. Current and three-time champion Dennis 'styla' Schellhase finished fifth and will also not be able to defend his title just like HasuObs for Warcraft III. On the other side, niLssoN is a pretty experienced player and improved a lot so maybe he can let all the SK players behind him and take the crown this season.
