The growth in gaming industry has been so high that Europe has topped U.S. as the second largest gaming territory in the world.According to Nielsen Games research (via Wired), Europe is now the second largest gaming territory, as Europe topped the United States. Asia is still the biggest.
In 2007, the videogames created $11.4 billion USD in Europe, while in Asia videogames managed to generate $11.5 billion. U.S. comes third with $10.7 billion.
"The fact that gamers are growing up and enjoying gaming with their children illustrates the enduring nature of the medium," Michael Rawlinson, the head of Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association notes.
"It’s fair to say that, compared to other forms of entertainment, games are doing well."

And the biggest in Europe is Germany :D:D
Blizzard's main European office is located in Paris if I'm not mistaken, so a relatively big % of these figures will have gone there.
I wouldn't say France is the biggest source of the income though, as I think the country with the largest number of inhabitants in Western Europe would logically be the country in which most games are bought.
UK - 2.3 billion Euros
France - 1.6 billion Euros
Germany - 1.4 billion Euros
Spain - 700 million Euros
Italy - 600 million Euros
I think France and Germany is probably the same, anyway in eSpot.
Kinda throwing the terms around each other a bit... confusing, or maybe it's just me -_-
go Europe though!
Edit : Just for the pleasure.
