Deciding to mix up the map pool and break away from the ancient tradition of GW, LT and TR, the Professional Gamer League comittee have decided it is time for a change and have added new maps to their map pool. The map pool consists of seven maps in total. While four of them: Twisted Meadows, Echo Isles, Terenas Stand and Secret Valley are more than familiar, PGL decided to also include Melting Valley, Tidewater Glades and Snow Drop into the pool.
Both Melting Valley and Tidewater Glades are new maps which were introduced by Blizzard as they were the two winners of Blizzard's melee map contest, they were also included in the beta version of 1.22 patch.
Snow Drop is a new two-player map designed for the tenth season of Amateur Clan Battle by NiceGameTV.
These three maps are available for download here, it remains unknown when the committee will release the official map pack.

Melting Valley:
The word "melting" is used properly here as this maps has parts of gnoll wood (the golems), twisted meadows (the merc camp) and turtle rock (merchant shop). It's nice to have a different taleset as I am bored from all those green grass all over. The map is quite big for a 1v1 map and I think there will be great games. Probably it will be most suitable for humans but who knows, the creeps guarding the mines aren't easy. Good map
Snowdrop 1.0:
Another winter tileset, nice. Map looks quite strange at first sight. And it is strange at second sight too. But strange in a good side. I see this map as a replacement for LT but (imo) it isn't so human/orc map as LT was. Expand on it is still easy but there is tavern, no fountain and very strange creeps I must add which is quite refreshing. I see the rocks guarding the orange creep spot preventing from militia abuse (or at least delaying it). The Satur Soulslayer is probably the most annoying creep ever as it burns your mana and makes skellies from corpses. Still, that means no more one hero item abuse. Bad thing is that the soulslayer from the lab can drop an exp tome but the creep spot itself is hard so maybe it's well deserved haha. However very bad thing imo is that the creep guarding the merc camp is not that hard and can drop endurance aura + exp tome (or similar items). That makes the spot very imbalanced, no matter that you need to destroy the gates. The items are way too strong for the difficulty of the creeps. Anyway the map will offer some very variable strategies, I am sure of that.
Tidewater Glades:
Another new tileset, good! At first sight you can notice many red spots. Also the mines are placed in such a place that I think fast expand is suicidal here, not to mention that those mines are guarded by thunder lizard who has splash damage and clap. GG Militia. The spawns positions are similar to turtle rock. Like snowdrop, some creeps here are also guarded by rocks to prevent/delay militia and aow abuse. The red gold mine creeps are so hard that I doubt they will ever be crept in a 1v1 intense match. Anyway, this map, like snowdrop, will definitely inspire some great new strategies. It's my favorite from all three. Let's hope for some great games!
Well written news Arceus!

Snow Drop is horrible. Strange and very strong creepsets, way to big and just inconvenient to play.
Tidewater Galdes seems to be a great 2v2 map but not that good for 1v1 because the creepspots are very strong and hard to creep. and closepositions against hu, as ork or ne, are as bad as close on tr.
so overall melting valley is a great new map, but the other 2 are nice fun/laddermaps but no balanced competition maps for a league like pgl.
Yes, variety is the spice of life (86.3%)
No, I like the standard maps (7.2%)
Yes, but I would have picked different new maps (6.5%)
