The Electronic Sports World Cup has announced that the 2008 Canadian national finals will be held at the VanLan in Vancouver, Canada.

The Electronic Sports World Cup has announced that the 2008 Canadian national finals will be held at the VanLan in Vancouver, Canada.VanLan Entertainment, those responsible for the event, have arranged for the University of British Columbia's War Memorial Gym in Vancouver to be this year's venue. Although the event is held in Canada, the organizers have stated that American teams are more than welcome to travel north and compete.
As with other ESWC qualification tournaments, the winners will recieve a place at this year's grand finals in San Jose, California, as well as cash prizes. This year's finals are scheduled to take place between August 25th and 27th, 2008.
Although the prize purse is yet to be announced it is expected that the majority of top Canadian and American teams will attend the event. With the dwindling Counter-Strike scene in America, the tournament is one of only a handful of comeptitions in the area.
