The first qualifier for PGL was extremely competitive as there were over a thousand players who signed up this season. With dozens of renowned players from China and Korea, loads of upsets are unavoidable.
Aside from Chul Woo "Shy" Park and Sung Hyun "Space" Park who were already knocked out in the pre-qualifier, newly crowned KODE5 Global Final champion Xuwen "infi" Wang, Weiliang "Fly100%" Lu, Xiang "TH000" Huang, Hyeong Ju "Check" Lee and Jae-Hyuk "SouthSea" Lee all failed to have a lock on a berth to PGL's Season III.
However those who failed in the first qualifier still have a second shot in the looming second qualifier. The second qualifier will kick off within days and will decide the last three participants to the PGL LAN Finals which will be held in Beijing, China from June 5 to June 15.
The committee of PGL will unveil another six invitees to the PGL LAN Finals, whilst Xiaofeng "Sky" Li, Jae Ho "Moon" Jang, Jung Hee "Sweet" Chun and Liwei "xiaOt" Sun have been named as four top seeds thanks to their achievements in PGL previous seasons. Sweet hung up his gaming gear three weeks ago so it remains uncertain whether he will attend or PGL will have to find a replacement.
