And so as the clock in Moscow hits minutes past midnight the last games and Day 1 in the long awaited Kode5 Global Finals have came to an end.The first day brought many surprises, interesting matches, happiness and even a lot of stress to some of the players and their fans.
Some of these most noticeable moments are none other than Virtus.Pro's and Fnatic's strive to advance from the so called "Group of Death". Even after reshuffling the groups due emuLate's absence
Group A had three possible title contenders. At the very start Fnatic took a large lead against Virtus.Pro, but the motivated Russians came back and didn’t want to lose on their home ground, after which they pulled off a draw versus the Swedes.
At this point all eyes were on these two teams and not many were expecting Team EG to be able to pull of what they did. Not only they won the Russians again, but they clearly won the current number one team in the world.
Despite these tense matches, the Chinese players from Team Dragon found themselves in a more stressed situation, where they found themselves on a line where they could have not attended the Kode5 Finals, in time at least.
On their arrival in the Russian airport, they encountered some problems with their invitation by Kode5 to enter the Russian Federation. Happily they were able to solve the problems and continue their participation in the tournament.
In other groups, MYM were able to defeat the WCG 2007 silver medallists, mTw. HellRaisers were able to top the group B after the 2nd place finishers Roccat managed to knife themselves a few times in their match. The EM winners Mousesports weren't able to advance after their only hope Roccat couldn't deliver a victory over their Ukrainian opponent's. Made in Brazil defeated their rivals from SK Gaming, meaning that they are the leaders in Group D with SK fallowing them in second.

MYM vs Fnatic will be an interesting clash of powerhouses.
gl to them :)
Anyway it's not admins' fault, I guess... fnatic was expected to finish their group on the first place and, as we all know now, they had big problems with advancing to playoffs. I would say: "winner of this match will win whole tournament" but I think we shouldn't underestimate, especially that there were many surprises ;)
SK vs EG also should be very interesting, after such a good performance of American team in the group stage.
To be honets I am not very interested in CS but this tournament seems to be very nice for me :P
nice coverage tho!
GL HellRaisers.
lol... you mean against VP?
