"I think after a short transition phase, we'll see most of the tournaments, players and teams moving toward the newer game," said Baschi in an interview with Blizzgamers.com. "eSport probably can't really afford the luxury of supporting two Blizzard RTS games on the same level over more than a year, though I really hope Warcraft 3 will live on for many years."
Baschi has no doubts about StarCraft 2 becoming a great game and cited Blizzard's work ethic and creativity. He said that the Warcraft 3 players with the best micromanagement will be the ones that will do well in the new game.
In the remainder of the interview the German talks about his past, his current job and the future of the WC3L. You can read it right here.

warcraft 3 is huge in the rest of the world and so-so in korea
no problem with that imo.
BUT it would be better if there was one game we all liked :)
better fix your macro w3 playa's :D
Both Starcraft and Warcraft 3 are good in their own rights.
I think that Starcraft 2 will be a good "middle man" for both communities to play and enjoy.
Hopefully we have thousands of players at every event and get these prize pools from thousands to millions.
WC3 got more fans?
HAHAH look at korea plz
Can I just ask, where are we "looking" again? Because I'd really like to know where you're getting these numbers from. Thanks!
But there is a lot of people that are just staring to be involved in gaming so they are picking favorite game now.
I think that wc3 professional scene won't be damaged at all.
Whether professional players switch or not is irrelevant, big money competition exists because companies are interested in marketing to the casual audience, not professional gamers. If there's no audience there's no events.
I'm not saying it's going to happen, I'm saying it's possible and it seems to me like it's a scenario some professional players are trying to ignore.
Not a wise decision.
Look at china, they've embraced the wc3 play style much more than they ever did with SC. Sure some people will move over to SC2 but I can't see wc3 dying out anytime soon. I don't think it's really fair to say only one competetive RTS can be supported ... I mean look at how many FPS games get played competetively... RTS worldwide is pretty close to the same popularity.
but as i said before, the game styles are so different that i can't see one taking over from the other, although I would say SC2 will be more popular overall.
I think that lots off players will go to starcraft2 and the w3 community is going to diminish, but then lots of players will test sc2 but still prefer w3.
Although I think that the w3 pros (who don't all necessarily keep playing for the fun of it, might want to change, but that only if they can get satisfying results.)
[I'm not a starcraft or w3 player]
wtf??
