While the Playdown of WC3L's thirteenth season has just begun, the lan final is rumoured to take place in China after twelve successful seasons in Europe.According to Replays.net, the offline final of WC3L's thirteenth season will take place in none other than Chengdu, which has recently gained the rights to host World Cyber Games 2009.
This move from ESL meet the growing interest of the huge Chinese gaming market, especially after the Chinese government's gaming ban is said to be uplifted this year. Furthermore, it cuts massive cost for both ESL and the participating teams, which consist of most Asian players.
The source indicated further that it will probably not the only WC3L offline finals that take place in China, but more will follow in the future.
While SK Gaming and Beijing E-sports Team have already qualified for the offline finals as the first and second place respectively in the regular season, another two spots will be decided later today through the playoffs.
The third placed World Elite will play versus the sixth placed WICKED Esports at 15:00 CET, while the fourth placed Meet Your Makers and the fifth placed Mousesports will go head to head at 17:00 CET.

paris, copenhagen?
but then, there shouldn't be too much of a problem except the different time-zone and the problem with WTV/GGTV.
(well , i personally have been hating WTV since they had closed down the backup-server, so that you can't even be sure to watch a single game without the server breaking down...)
There may be some false reporting in western media, but we can be pretty sure chinese media win the run for censorship and bullshit news big time. It´s not like Free Tibet is a movement generated by western media...
On the topic: The decision could be unwise if we look at visa issues for foreigners and especially the cuts to freedom of the(e-sport)-press coming up recently.
sad
logical step by the wc3l though
