In an interview for the "Rollingstone" magazine, the legendary rock stars revealed that they are really excited about video games and how they bond their children together with the family.Last week in the sunny northern California, Lars Ulrich, the drummer of the multi-million record selling band, spoke (link via MCV) with the Rolling Stone editors about the internet and a little about video games.
He noted that internet is making an impact on record sales, but it won't kill record stores, the true killers are the megastores.
With more and more people becoming casual gamers, the global esport scene can only hope for the best as these new "gamers" can understand the happenings in esport more than non-gamers.

"There's something really positive coming out of video games"
To a question how was it to sign a lot of guitar hero controllers Lars said: "It's f*** way cool. Our kids love playing Guitar Hero and Rock Band. It's awesome. There's something really positive coming out of video games. It's so cool to sit there and have your kids talk to you about Deep Purple and Black Sabbath and Soundgarden."With more and more people becoming casual gamers, the global esport scene can only hope for the best as these new "gamers" can understand the happenings in esport more than non-gamers.

Then why did they sued Napster?! It seems like they are just full of s**t tbh.
The main reason why they sued Napster is that they wanted to defend their work and the rights to choose themselves what they want to do with their music. That choice has been taken from them and from pretty much all music artists.
It's never been about making more money from their music. They themselves do share their music for free with their fans. St. Anger booklet contained a key to Internet website filled with Metallica's concert, now they run LiveMetallica.com where you can download ALL of their concerts since 2004 (have to pay few dollars for maintanance costs) and quite often they put some older material there for free.
It just seems like they are trying to save face, since Internet distribution is catching up now.
And I don't see how stating a fact 'internet distribution is making an impact' is hypocrite..
Also, who says that whoever downloads their songs illegally would actually buy them if he didn't download them? There might be a probability. But having access to something for free tempts you to get it, also if you don't really fancy it.
Still, I agree that violating intellectual property laws is criminal and thus should be fought. I just don't think that it is appropriate to be hysteric about it, and some people are (not saying you are).
my point is:
CTRL+C (copy) CD =/= CTRL+C Money

It's a point of view...
you're joking right ;]]
I can listen call the name of every metallica's song in 5 seconds :P
Metallica rulez !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice opinion, he`s totally right about what he said, it helps build up musical culture in the children, and helps nurture talent. Why could be something like that be wrong ?
I agree with the part where Lars says that it's cool to have one's kids talking about mythic bands instead of having them talking about today's shitpop x) But Metallica stays the biggest band ever. I'm always looping their entire discography :)
