The ESWC 2008 Germany Final just finished and the usual suspects mousesports and Team Alternate qualified for the Grand Final.

Eight teams had the chance to qualify for the ESWC 2008 German National Final through on- and offline qualifiers in the past months which now took place in Dortmund. Before the event started it was already announced that the a-Losers would not attend due to the clan not being able to pay.

Also mousesports were not able to qualify nor play the National Final with Antonio "cyx" Daniloski since everyone needed to be at least 18 years old. They managed to qualify online with Christoph "loomit" Norrmann who was also recruited shortly after as reserve player for the ESL Pro Series.

Shortly before the ESWC National Final started, mousesports decided to remove loomit from their lineup and wanted to replace him with Burak "coLLy" Dogramaci (a-Losers) first, which didn't work out. In the end they took Nils "bara" Waldowski (a-Losers) to play for them.

With these changes the tournament started on Saturday morning in the upper bracket round 1 where the favorites won their matches. In the second round of the upper bracket, n!faculty put up a great fight against Alternate aTTaX losing with 13:16. The first favorite was knocked out of the tournament already was hoorai by losing to mousesports and then competo in the overtime.

Moving on with the National Final, the first big match was played in the upper bracket final where mousesports and aTTaX met on de_dust2. Alternate aTTaX were clearly dominating here with mooN and especially Benjamin "paN" von Mulert playing an insane match and managed to take down mousesports with 16:7.

In the lower bracket final, n!faculty beat Competo with 16:14 advancing to the Consolation Final facing mousesports. Again the map was de_dust2 for mousesports but they recovered quickly after their loss and convincingly won with 16:7.

Now it was already clear that both Alternate aTTaX and mousesports were qualified for the ESWC Grand Final later this year, but only the first placed team will get paid the travel expenses. Coming from the lower bracket, mousesports were in need to win two maps in order to place first which seemed unlikely looking at the history of matches against aTTaX. Alternate won the ESL Pro Series two times in a row now coming from the lower bracket defeating mousesports and they already beat mousesports in the upper bracket.

Still, mousesports managed to play a great first half on de_train getting 7 terrorist rounds which is superior. In the second half of the first map, mousesports had clear rounds and were leading until aTTaX seemed to change something and suddenly it became a tie with an overtime following. This time it was Manuel "tixo" Makohl playing a fantastic match leading his team to win the first map.

The second map was de_nuke and again mousesports got a total of 8 terrorist rounds in the first half which again was very good for them. The second half starts and it looked like a repeat of the first map, mousesports plays a good match but aTTaX manage to come back getting closed to the victory but in the end, mousesports won with 16:14 and also overall won the event.
