e-Stars voting frenzy - 25,000 votes were fake
The final days of the e-Stars voting frenzy have brought some phenomenal jumps involving emuLate, SK Gaming, Roccat and other teams. The number of votes out of thin air has risen to 25,015.

The final days of the e-Stars voting frenzy have brought some phenomenal jumps involving emuLate, SK Gaming, Roccat and other teams. The number of votes out of thin air has risen to 25,015.It all started a month ago, when e-Stars opened the voting. Doing well in the fan vote would be worth 50% of a trip to Korea, the other 50% being last year's results and the jury's opinion.
During the first three weeks, Fnatic and Meet Your Makers were leading in the vote whilst the others swapped places several times.
Strange things began to happen with less than two weeks to go in the vote. The French team emuLate! managed to jump from a rather bad situation to the very top, leading the community wonder just how good their advertising campaign was.

But considering that you had to vote for two or three teams and not one, 6,305 votes were found missing and emuLate's leap looked very suspect.
Things began moving very rapidly from there, as on April 19, the poll for e-Star Seoul 2008 had another mass vote spam for nearly every team. Things got out of control.
On April 18, SK Gaming and Roccat gained 5,222 and 8,310 votes, respectively. The vote proportion rule (you had to vote for 2 or 3 teams) could not be used to determine whether those votes were fake votes or simply mass votes. But it was still suspicious.
Then, on April 20, within under two hours, emuLate's account rose by 16,895. To put this into perspective, this means that there were 2.68 votes cast for emuLate each second!
The French team's surplus also outnumbered the surplus of all the other teams by 12,634, which means that at least this many votes were fake (most likely, many more than that).
But it is not just emuLate with suspicious votes, ones that were mass-added in a short period of time. emuLate, are first in the list, with an approximate number of 37,000 votes, Roccat are following with 9,900 votes and SK is third with 6,850 votes. The other teams are not that far behind and the smallest number of suspicious votes is with for MYM who only have ~1,300 spam votes.
This does not mean that all of those votes were fake votes, but it definitely prompts to ask questions.
emuLate clearly leads the poll with a total of 24,770 votes that were proven to be fake votes. We arrived at this number with the assumption that everyone voted for two, not three teams. Assuming that 80% of voters picked three teams in the poll, this number almost doubles.
This does not mean that emuLate were the only team that got the help of an invisible hand. SK Gaming has 245 votes that were fakes. Other teams had suspicious leaps as well, but with the screenshots we have, we were not able to prove beyond doubt that ill play was involved.
Regardless of how this ends and what e-Stars does or does not do about it, everyone could agree - this poll was a bad idea.

The news always (and it was the same in the pcedent ones) repeat that it is the French team Emulate that cheated.It doesn't insist on the fact that other team (hi SK) received strange votes too and didn't say Sweden team or Finnish team Roccat.
People reacted has the news led them too: French bashing (see these stupid reply about french..many are thumbed ofc but i saw so many shitty reply) and focusing on Emulate!.
So yes i feel insulted.And a bit revolted to see that there is not any moderation for the racist around here.When i saw on the other news thing stupid like "French only surrender" (why are we one of the bigger country if we always surrender ? learn to think by yourself and learn some history)...
Anyway Esport should pick some teams and just ignore the poll.
but there are fake votes at ANY team, not only emulate (even they go the most) so don't just point at them.
just historically we have to say that france did not win a war for nearly 200 years (no, I'm NOT proud about what has happened in germany and wars really suck!!) and mostly surrendered quite fast.
the french people often are very nationalist, yes.
but you are right, it really sucks that so much people here at sk just lump together whole countries. (like "all germans are biased because they believe in hoorai" and many other posts)
In two centuries there was:
- napoleonic wars : Fr ruled Europa during 15 years, but all against us we finished to lose (and it's happy...don't like the dictator.), Iena, Austerlitz etc etc.
-1820 we beated Spain. Victory
-1827 coalition against Ottoman Victory
-1855 Malakoff agains russian Victory
-1859 Solferino etc against austrian to help in the creation of Italia. Victory
-1870 we lose, but when the government surrender, the population insurrected ("la commune") and we keep fighting. Prussia threatened to burn Paris so they calmed down. One important point is France was allied with England but they didn't help us at any moment. Defeat

-1914-1918 we won Verdun before the american came help us (but without them we would have lose).We had 2M dead and 5M wounded. So surrender quickly?
-1939-1945 a shame : stupid generals, pro nazi government...The army was let alone ( because of the horrible WWI, ppl doesn't support the war) and fight as she can but with horrible commanders.They had 200000 dead and 300000 wounded in 1 month.Not bad no? It's close to UK in 4 years of war.

So i think people who says things like that just repeat what they hear (french bashing have always be because we are seem like arrogant for claiming identity exception) but don't really know their history.No offense about that, it' normal that except the most important thing ppl know the history of his own country.=)
So what can be see as nationalism is just a normal reaction for our history so bad known and interpreted.
