The rights to the title defence go to the team only. PGS Gaming (MYM's players won the title under this brand in 2007) cannot waive those rights in order for MYM to receive the berth, even if they decide not to get a new Counter-Strike squad.

PGS Gaming negotiated the possibility of a handing over the berth to Meet Your Makers but the offer was refused by the Danish organisation. According to PGS manager Marcin "Darky" Sieczkowski, offer did not entail any money and there was no bad will on either side, but the ESWC rules were the limitation.

The firm standpoint of the ESWC is that the title defenders have to represent PGS Gaming. We have managed to find out that, most likely, PGS offered that the team play under a double name, but that was something MYM would not accept.

Should MYM win the ESWC Grand Finals as PGS, then the title and a new berth would rightfully go to the organisation that does not pay those players' salaries. PGS Gaming is currently looking into other options. Meet Your Makers refused to make a comment about the issue.

Right now MYM have only two ways of qualifying: either through placing top 3 at ESWC Masters, which is expected to be a very difficult tournament, or through placing top 2 at ESWC Poland, a tournament that the team plans to skip in order to attend the Kode5 Grand Final. This might change, as MYM might not attend Kode5.

Either way, the chances that the defending champions, both in the form of PGS Gaming and the very players that won the title last year, are getting slimmer every day.
