No visa for LUq, no Kode5 for MYM?

ImageThe Meet Your Makers CS team's participation in the Kode5 Global Final in Moscow is in jeopardy. Lukasz "LUq" Wnek's visa application has been denied by the Russian consulate in Warsaw.

For a Polish citizen to go Russia, he or she has to submit an invitation to Russia, valid insurance and a passport. The reason for the denial was that LUq's passport was slightly damaged.

At the moment, the organiser of the Polish Kode5 qualifier and MYM are working on resolving the issue. There are two ways out of the situation for the player - either his visa application is revised or he gets a new passport. The procedure of getting a new passport normally takes three to four weeks, so this avenue is closed unless an exception is made.

Should MYM not be able to attend Kode5 in Moscow, they will go to the Polish ESWC qualifier which takes place at the same weekend, on May 10-11. MYM was prudent enough to have paid the entrance fee to the preliminary. This would probably solve MYM's problem with their qualification for the ESWC.

If MYM attend Kode5, their only way of qualifying for the ESWC finals in San Jose would be to place top 3 at the ESWC Masters in Paris or the contingency of PGS Gaming not sending a team and ESWC then recognising MYM as the defending champions.
