SK Gaming opt out of CS:GO

ImageIn what may come as a surprise, SK Gaming has decided to opt out of competitive Counter-Strike: Global Offensive for the time being and focus on opportunities elsewhere.

After long consideration, we at SK Gaming decided to discontinue the support for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive despite the respectable performance at DreamHack Summer 2014.

The current roster was picked up end of May as the former Team4Balkan and was looking to participate in the $30.000 USD DreamHack Summer 2014 tournament in Jönköping, Sweden. Faruk 'pita' Pita and his team put up a great show, managed to upset the defending champion fnatic and proved to be a serious threat against other top teams such as Ninjas in Pyjamas and Virtus.Pro. Unfortunately though, their performance was not consistent enough as they ended up on 5-8th in the DreamHack tournament and 3-4th in the Swedish ESPORTSM challenge.

Shortly after Dreamhack, team captain Faruk 'pita' Pita announced his retirement and while the team found a worthy replacement in Marcus 'Delpan' Larsson, the management of SK Gaming decided not to renew the contracts. SK Gaming is currently not looking to pick up another team or any individual players and are therefore opting out of competitive Counter-Strike: Global Offensive for the time being.

We at SK Gaming wish the best of luck to the entire team - these are some great guys and personalities with a bright future ahead of them. Big shout-outs also to our fans, who supported us both offline and online during this endeavour. We have been and currently are looking into other opportunities and will hopefully have some promising announcements coming up soon.
