Sunday night marked the beginning of what promises to be a long campaign for the SK.CoD4 squad in this seasons Clanbase's Eurocup XVII. The opening match was against the toughest opponent in the group (on paper), and would most likely decide who finished first and second.
A ruthless SK Gaming sent out a clear message of their serious intent, though the match has been somewhat subdued due to the 'unsportsmanship' behaviour shown by SK, with regards to not allowing 'sniper fix'.
"yes they denied scope fix 2 min before the match that screwed us over we where demotivated cause of that so stevy couldnt pick scope so our tacs didnt work at all.afther crash we couldnt care anymore (was a bad decision) and we left." - Benny 'yazzy' Verheyen
Though the general feeling remains that even if the TCM had played with the fix, the result wouldn't have been massively altered, though TCM argue that having the best sniper in Europe (Stevy 'Stevy' Verheyen) handicapped mere minutes before the match, had a devasting moral impact, which the score highlights.
The win leaves SK with the best record (round difference) of any team, and with their biggest rivals also picking up wins against tough opponents; Dignitas (25:9 versus Roskilde Ravens), H2k.Qpad (25:9 versus nGize), Meet Your Makers (25:10 vesus Ancients) and TEK-9, Serious Gaming and L3 still to play their opening fixtures, this seasons Clanbase Eurocup is definatly worth watching.

As an entire community rallies round Team SPEEDLINK, it was ironic that “poor” administrating and prejudice were the accomplices in Clanbase's eventual death.
Last night one of the most controversial EuroCup competitions to date was brought to an end when SPEED-LINK defeated H2k in the grand final - at least that's what we thought!
Tonight the grand final of this years Call of Duty 4 EuroCup competition will take place. France's H2k will take on SPEED-LINK who have battled their way through the lower bracket to get to this game.
Last week's matches saw SK and Sample end their run in the Clanbase EuroCup XVII competition whilst Insidiae and SPEED-LINK continued their journey and face eSuba and KomaCrew, respectively.
A lopsided schedule means that the majority of action is courtesy of Clanbase and its Eurocup, though Dignitas is on hand to steal the show come Friday.
The Clanbase EuroCup XVII is beginning to come to its conclusion as the last few teams battle it out in the lower bracket. SK Gaming will face insidiea and Sample will take on Germany's SPEED-LINK.
The Call of Duty 4 EuroCup XVII S&D heats up as SK.CoD4 squad face the Finnish k1ck eSports Club CoD4 team in the playoffs at the 4th of May, 19:00 CET.

- would that be your feeling?
No.
Everybody knows TCM can do better then they did, and its quite obvious the non sportsmanlike behaviour of the sk.cod4 team had a big influence in how tcm played.
In the end, this isnt a good thing for sk's reputation, i know alot of people feel really strongly about this matter.
Even worse for CB, which allowed for this to happen, I wouldnt be surprised if teams would actually pull out of EC this year, like Fnatic didnt signup beforehand.
I know people will argui that CB's rules are clear on the matter, but in the end, the sniperfix has been played with for months, and is used in every league and cup around.
Therefor denying clans their own playstyle is something incredibly lame.
At the end of the day, we know what sk.cod4 will do for a victory.
wp SK :)
Both me and SpoX wanted to make it mandatory, but the gamesupervisor did not agree.. so we had to make it "allowed" in stead of "mandatory". And that was also clearly stated in the newsitem about the sniperfix. Quoted from the newsitem: "It's not a rule, so it's not mandatory."
They had a week to ask about it, to be sure about it, but they didn't; SK did.
CB doesnt seem to listen to the players, imo ^^

Teams like ourselfs will just drop Clanbase if they make us not use it, we dont have the patience to be fucking around with multiple rulesets, and im sure others are the same.
Same goes for teams trying to enforce there server due to an entire team not being on the irc channel 1hour before.....
Fair play 4 the win, being lame is a gaming sin ! w0000t
Not my fault mate, and fair play to you using it in the end, but before the game the whole " ITS NOT OUR PROBLEM YOU ARE LATE IN CHAN shit " is just lame.. and you know it ;))
GO Qtour only for eurocup.
You mention good faith as if it has a place in this discussion, did SK break any rules? No, end of discussion. Did Zidane break any rules? Yes, and he (and the other player) was punished! This is just a precedent, and perhaps the rules will be changed to be more explicit because of this incident. TCM were lazy, CB were vague, but SK did nothing wrong.
The players don't organise the competition, if they want to play their own rules then they're free to do so. The purpose of Clanbase or any competition is to provide the best environment for the majority of the players, and in this occasion it didn't. Clanbase failed with it's vague and subjective rules.
This incident would've happened eventually, and it just so happened to involve one of the biggest names in eSports. Even if SK maliciously weakened TCM on purpose by denying the fix, they didn't break any rules. Any whine here, should be solely pointed at Clanbase.
Im not saying that TCM would maybe have some more rounds without this as Stevy is just a good sniper, but it wouldnt have change anything on the fact that SK played better. Motivation and spirit may decrease if u hear it in front of a match, but instead of flaming ur opponent u should maybe think if it wasnt ur own fault a bit aswell to not check if SK can choose between it and what they would choose. Even if the server had 3 hours before the game start a sniperfix installed (which wasnt even the fact as LERP fix was installed at this time and also ingame, not the sniperfix itself - as SK says), it doesnt mean that it will be used when the game start or?
But what mostly make me beeing disapointed is the way Stevy and TCM acts here once again. I read all the story on IRC, watched the stream and was involved in the discussions after the game aswell and its sad to see how guys change their mind day by day. Directly after the match TCM and esp. you Stevy showed a more then disrespectfull behaviour with calling SK "lame shit cunts" and stuff like this in the Matchchannel, going over to abuse em in official channels (cod4.invite) directly after again and trying to get the community against SK. And you want to discuss about sportmanship and beeing fair then? Sorry, but i dont think ur in the position to do so.
All the "sorry for our behaviour" in pm's and stuff from TCM some hours later seems to be forgetten as they just start again a day later on other sites. I really think you should watch out for the facts once again before abusing, flaming and taking others against a Team who didnt do ANYTHING wrong at the end - just following a discussable rule by CB.

I like the SK guys but they shouldnt of done this =))
