I have recoded the way friends work and added another type called buddy.Buddy was the original name I used for friends back on GeekBoys.org in 2001. Now it is back on SK, but with a twist. When someone request to add you, you get three options:
- Accept as mutual friend
- Deny as friend, but let user add you as his buddy
- Ignore user, dont let him be friend nor buddy
Friend
A mutual friend is someone you know very well. You will see his/her latest actions and that person will be listed under friends on your profile.
Buddy
A buddy is someone who request to add you, but which you don't know well enough to consider as a mutual friend, that person will be able to see you in the buddy listing on his profile. Actions won't appear in the latest box.
If you do not want the user to be able to see you in his buddy listing, click ignore.
Stay tuned for more updates shortly.
Note:
Converting a friend to buddy does not mean you see that person in your buddy list, but that he will see you on his buddy list.

Perhaps a menu in user CP to pick which of these boxes should appear it would be a nice idea. Or perhaps a possibility of reducing the content of the User Profile in the CP.
