According to an article on Gotfrag, the GGL has not paid out some of the prizes to teams and players for its competitions. The North Amercian events organiser is said to have outstanding debts with players and teams for the Army Gaming Championship and the ClanBase EuroCups.
Teams and players claim that they are not receiving their money and that their emails are ignored by GGL staff. The Counter-Strike ESWC 2007 and WCG 2007 runner-up mTw.dk is among the teams that are still waiting for their prize money.
The GGL blames paperwork and the procedures of collecting the eligible winners' information, their tax forms and the verification of tournament results.
“We can't award prizing to a second place finisher only to discover that the winner was disqualified or ineligible," said Robert Summa, GGL's director of communications in a response to GotFrag's inquiry. "We have tried many strategies, and this simply works best. Forfeiture of prizing is a severe result that we attempt to avoid […] until all winners have completed the process (even if some of those folks end up forfeiting their prizing), we simply cannot pay any winners.”
The GGL has also written a letter to the ACG prize winners. It is available in GotFrag's article.
