Several weeks ago, the CPL officially ceased operations. It seemed like the community would not see another CPL event for a very long time, but a mystery investor from Belarus has stepped in and purchased the company.
Little is known about the deal so far, but according to rumours, the new CPL will take a new direction away from PC gaming and towards consoles. This move might be dictated by the nature of the North American gaming market, dominated by consoles.
Update: In several hours, SK Gaming will have a video interview with Sasha Tsapaev, the new owner of the CPL.

It would be nice if this guy could make the CPL name mean something again, even if it is in the console industry, but for me, that magic is long gone.
Best of luck to him and his events.
It's good news I suppose, I'm guessing all that prize money that wasn't payed out over the years should now be winging its way to all the winners who were stiffed, being that Angel is such a nice guy and all.
I love that he makes out like a bandit and gets to bolt while there's still people out of pocket on travel and accommodation expenses, as a direct result of his incompetence and greed.
Also the CB main site is claiming that they're removing COD4 and CSS ladders but that one is a sure April Fool's.
Maybe its not a joke afterall huh?
