Could you please introduce yourself and your guild?
My name is Nopher, I play a Druid and I'm an officer in Last Resort. LR is an old-school guild that has been around since the since the very start of raiding in WoW. We started of on Skullcrusher, moved to Kazzak in the middle of Naxxramas and left for Boulderfist a couple of months ago. We've been doing pretty good progression wise in TBC and I guess most of you know us from all the kickass movies made by Kerp. One characteristic that we take pride in is our low amount of members, currently at 33 active raiders.
How much has Last Resort raided on PTR and how much did you get to test?
We've been really unlucky and I guess a bit lazy as well with PTR raids. Around two hours on Kalecgos, three hours on Brutallus and six on Felmyst. We managed to time our raids with PTR maintenance more then getting actual raiding done and after that people just got fed up with it.
What did you think of the quality of this PTR compared to lets say BT/Hyjal?
We didn't spend a lot time on the PTR doing BT or Hyjal either for that matter but I have to say that I like the new model of testing at least. The general feeling now (assuming that the current PTR patch is the version to go live) is that Blizzard actually listened to a lot of the feedback and made overall good changes, removing the Essence of Immortals being a good example.
How do you like this new Gate idea in Sunwell from Blizzard that it will all open Simultaneously?
"I think this is a good compromise between giving us a race and Blizzard wanting to have the content last more then one reset."
Well since I truly hated the Essence of Immortals idea I think it's really good compared to the alternative. Granted the progression race between high-end guilds suffer regardless of how the gates function but I think this is a good compromise between giving us a race and Blizzard wanting to have the content last more then one reset. Regardless I was pleasantly surprised to see them scrap content for the sake of the progression meta-game, perhaps there is hope for PvE after all.
How have Last Resort Prepared for Sunwell?
We've asked everyone to gather a bunch of consumables and swap to Leatherworking basically. We also, like I mentioned briefly earlier, moved from Kazzak to Boulderfist to assure that we have no problems with queues or crappy instance servers. The guildbank has mats for a ton of cauldrons, repairbots and whatnot that might be needed.
What do you think about when you're creating a raid and what different hybrid classes are you using?
Having the best possible raid setup is the most important factor for us when we do new content. When we're farming we also take into account the fact that everyone (although that is not true after 8 months in BT) wants to raid and who wants loot etc. Other then that you always want to make sure that every group is solid instead of ending up with one group being for scrubs. Last but not least we value raid synergy greatly and thus use a wide variety of hybrids and ?less common? specs to optimize our raid.
We're using feral Druids, one retribution Paladin, one enhancement Shaman and shadow Priests. We're having a hard time getting room for a elemental Shaman or moonkin Druid although I believe they are pretty viable as well. We also have a Paladin that respecs protection when needed (we even used it on Morogrim Tidewalker back in the days!). We always make sure we have a survival Hunter and a MS Warrior in our raids.
What are your guys goal progression/competition wise for Sunwell, how hard will you be pushing for fast kills?
"If there's something we haven't killed we're raiding that every night until it goes down"
We'll never be scheduling raids for BT or Hyjal again and continue on like we have through entire TBC; if there's something we haven't killed we're raiding that every night until it goes down. We have a relatively low amount of members though so we can't really expect to be able to push as hard as some of the other high-end guilds but if they slack or suck we'll be there stealing their world-firsts! ;)Due to how Sunwell is structured, assuming that the gates will be opened with more then one reset in between, I suspect that you'll see us waiting for the gates tied with the rest of the high-end guilds out there. We aim at the top but will stick to our low amount of members simply because we find it more fun!
What three guilds do you think will manage to down Kill'Jaeden first?
SK, Nihilum and Forte.
