It's time to continue the session with SK Gaming's DotA team and it's Erik "Bogdan" Olsson's turn to talk, answering a few questions and updating us on the team progresses. A replay pack is also available.

It has been a while since you added Sergio "Smile" Revin and Mikael "hailo" Grinsvall, how are things doing?

Well, hailo has blended in very smoothly with the rest of the team. He still lacks experience though, but that will come soon enough.

Smile has a whole lot of ideas and stuff with him from Virtus.pro and it's gonna take some time to mix it with our own playstyle, but given some time I'm sure it will turn out GREAT!

"I think though, that a blinknerf was needed, but I'm not certain it was the right one"
Did you have a chance to try 6.51? if so, what's your opinion, what changes you don't like or you don't deem to push DotA in the right direction? and vice versa what changes are for the better?

Yes, I tried .51, but only very briefly. I can honestly say I have no idea how it's gonna affect the game, and no one will know until we try. I think though, that a blinknerf was needed, but I'm not certain it was the right one. I'm afraid it's gonna make the game slower, but we'll have to wait and see. The new items will probably work out great though, casters' late game items for the win!

ImageDo you think DotA teams ready to play in a professional environment, such as we expect the upcoming MYM PDL to be? From a spectator point of view it feels there are still many organisational flaws which really annoy the fans who wait hours for a streaming to start, eg. matches scheduled and played after deadlines, endless ban/pick procedures. Is this going to change?

I think the new Pride Defending League will be awesome! I just hope teams get better at taking time for matches. I get that people have real life too, but DotA is actually becoming a popular game for real, and I really hope people will show enough commitment to make it continue growing.

I also think a time limit on picking should be enforced. But also, GGTV could help by announcing that the games start like 30 minutes after the teams have scheduled the time for. That way people wont have to wait as long, and if it should start faster than announced, it's easy to catch up.

"I'd say individual skill is most important for the first ~15 minutes of the game, and later the game focuses more on teamplay"
Teamplay or individual skill: which is more important? A mix of five strong players from different countries could hypothetically perform better than five close players from the same country?

I think both are equally important. I've always premiered teamplay, and I still think a lot of teams have way too little teamwork, including us the last few months.

However, individual skill is also extremely important. I'd say individual skill is most important for the first ~15 minutes of the game, and later the game focuses more on teamplay. This being a generalization, of course.

Regarding same country, I no longer think that is as important as I once did. MYM have done quite a good job proving that mixed nationalities aren't necessarily a bad thing. As long as everyone get along well, and have somewhat the same ideas about the game, it doesn't really matter where people are from!
