There's alot of fuss nowadays concerning whether or not silent-run / russian duck or whatever you want to call it, should be allowed.
I'll admit, when most professional players started using silent-run it annoyed me a bit in the beginning. I wasn't able to hear them because I wasn't used to the sound of someone silent-running - i'll recognize it now.
Then there's the question about bugged hitboxes while silent-running. That was a pain in the ass in the beginning too. You would aim as you normally do when waiting for someone to pop up from behind a corner but now, instead i'll take into consideration he might be double-ducking around corners.
I think being able to do this manually (ctrl or whatever your +duck button is) _IS_ a skill and has become a part of the game, the same way past changes of the game has become a part of it eventually.
Basically every professional Counter-Strike gamer uses silent-running and tournaments should recognize that 'top-gamers' are pro-silent-running.
If you, as a Counter-Strike player want to be the best you can be that concerns all aspects of the game. If you on the other hand totally despite silent-running, there are always these awfully boring servers with a modification which disables double-ducking.
Either allow it, or have it removed from the game.

haha yeah, i instantly leave those,
if youre used to it, you just do it
I haven't played actively in many years but I think it adds another element to the game, which all players will have to practice on to become good at it.
ALLOW IT !!!
we agree it should be allowed but rounds are defaulted if a player russian-walks :(, but it is now habit
Like HeatoN in the past when he discovered how to control m4a1/ak47 spray or when people discover how to do the nuke red rock jump or quick scope with AWP. These are all part of the game and as the game goes on, there is a possibility, another "hidden" skill is discovered by some players. =)
i'd like to see it removed from the game, i emailed valve about it and they i supposed fobbed me off by saying they'd look at it, in no particular timeframe ._.
Yes, learning to duck jump could be called a skill, but it doesn't add another level of strategy to the game, it just replaces one.
Knowing when to move appropriately is a skill too, which just so happens to become irrelevant when you can duck jump.
I think removing it is the best option.
"I agree because everyone has the chance to learn how to do it. So there aren't any disadvantages for anyone, right? "
everyone has a chance to use any bugmap or whetever, should it be allowed all the same?
i agree wiith you about what we call "drax maps" in france which are fixed maps, but that was just an example.
actually i think i'm staying ont the first feeling about silent run, i got so paced at first that i've never wanted to use double key bind and i'm still trying not to use it.
i guess i will use it too when it will be totally allowed and everydody will have a clearview about all this
100% agree
The question is, should it be allowed with scroll (which makes it very very easy) or the normal way with ctrl, shift or space (whatever you use for +duck)
Otherwise, it should be allowed at all cups/lans yes.
You will make mistake and you lose match...
most of the stuff we use are exploits
