GGL has today made public the list of the games people have voted for Digital Games - Olympic event. The Gallup gives a clear picture of the winner as Call of Duty 4 tops the voting, StarCraft coming second. The live final for Digital Games will take place during the Olympics 2008 in Shanghai, China. This time GGL arranged a public game title voting, which particularly decided the most popular games amongst the electronic sports community, but also listed the games people want to be appeared at the Digital Games 2008 event. This is not the final list, as only "some of the results arrived".
Surprisingly Call of Duty 4 tops the voting, with StarCraft coming very close and getting the second place. Quake series was able to reach the third rank, WarCraft III fourth, and finally Counter-Strike 1.6 fifth.
"There is a definite difference between those wanting the "old school" games, that don't necessarily look the best, but are renowned big games, and have been tried and tested on the competitive scene," a snippet from the statement.

quake 3 - cpma mod, i find the most exciting games i've ever watched but vq3 is nice too.
wc3 - second, however there should be VOD's with commentators for RTS games IMO

COD4 ftw
2. cs 1.6
3. wow 3
4. nfs mw
5. quake 4
the poll was only a way to get more registered users, which failed.
Look at the graphic, it is clear, we arent making up anything here....
and teh vote is still on.
WHO ACTUALLY USES GGL as a news source?! gotfrag, sk, fragbite ftw
im sure if they did polls 1.6 would win
a news item was published on clanbase, the major cod4 league in europe, that's the reason for cod4 being on top. a lot of other webs published the same news but 1.6 gamers (and more but the point here is being done by 1.6 fanboys) don't care about it because they are used to have their game everywhere and this will be no different if ggl goes by what the community wants and not the sponsors (what doesn't seem to be happening)
and yeah, call of duty 4 is starting to be a threat to 1.6 (minimal one) or there wouldn't be so many controversy and discussions around each cod4-vs-1.6 news. cod4 can easily cohabit with 1.6, it's all upon the gamers. but if you feel threatened, that's not our problem ;)
just complete mongoloids like wilfrey think this actually means anything.
just face it our cs numbers are larger than cod4's
both online videogames, both same purpose...
why make a fuss about who has more numbers etc. cs still getting many tournament, cod4 just getting their breaktrough i hope
If "Valve" made some new GOOD updates to cs 1.6,cs would be #1,it's so old that people prefer the new games.I dont think that 5th place is so bad for this old good game. :)
Love it :o
