The second edition of the Cyclone 5vs5 tournament are nearing its end as WE RLY CARE takes on Nihilum Arena in the grand final tonight. Jasi over at Worldofming sat down with Phixus and Cherez from Nihilum for a little interview.
The interviews main focus is about the Cyclone battlegroup and the 5vs5 tournament, but also brings up a few interesting points such as how they ended up as Nihilum's PvP team.
Here's a clip:
Jasi: I've been told you are the "captain" of the Nihilum Arena team, how did you obtain this position, and what do your consider your overall role and goals as a leader?
Phixus: I'll start with "how it came to be". Basically, I've been actively looking for a sponsor since season2 (right after we transferred to Cyclone) and I wanted to take the whole arena buisness to the "next level" because I felt my team was strong enough to perform proper at tournaments. I talked to a few sponsors but I ended up at Kungen the Allmighty one. In my PvE guild, Khadgar's Rage, we had a looot of outdoor PvE and WSG matches against Nihilum and we raped them quite often! So through that I've gotten to know a lot of the Nihilum guys.
When I talked to Kungen, Nihilum just got sponsored (as a PvE guild) by Mousesports and they were looking to make a PvP team that could properly represent their guild. Problem for them was that noone in Nihilum was actually good at PvP. :P So after a while Kungen offered me the chance to make the Nihilum PvP Squad. His demands were quite simple, he wanted to have a 5v5 team, and a 3v3 team that could play any setup. My 5v5 was settled of course but the 3v3 took some effort. I was playing Warrior/Pala/Priest back then and I didn't want to go to any tournament with a scrub setup like that. :P So to make a long story short, I heard some really good things about Cherekee + Beasteh. So I talked to them (with Kungen for the extra "wow" factor) and asked them for the 3v3 part of the Nihilum PvP squad. After a while they accepted and transferred to Cyclone (which funnily enough, they were already planning to do) and the team was formed.
So what do I see as my primary role? Basically just keeping everyone in the team happy, motivated, fixing stuff like characters that people can play if I want them to play another class etc. I help a lot with strategies in both 3v3 and 5v5. Although personally my preference is 5v5, I don't really see myself as a 3v3 player. But yeah, Kungen is the leader of the PvE part of Nihilum, I'm the leader of the PvP part.
Lastly, my "goals" are kinda simple :P I'd like to become the European Pandemic. I FINALLY want a decent European team to play at tournaments. This all might sound a bit cocky but we have the potential to do great things!

" Phixus: Yeah Millenium needs to tranfer NOW, those dman cowards are camping in their dead BG for no reason at all."
overall good iview, but with nothing new
giev some carmac style stuff from different peoplez ! (2nd iview from jasi with cherekee)
wowow very nice :)
"As for the Nihilum Arena team; There is no one in Nihilum that is seriously and actively PvP'ing. Also the BG that Nihilum is in is utter crap. So they outsourced so to speak. The guild is not planning to transfer to another server for various reasons and they wanted to have a good arena team to play in their name, and not an arena team that would just camp #1 place in their crap BG and get surprise raped on any tournament. And because they were looking for people on another BG anyway it didn't matter if it was horde or alliance. So basically that's how they ended up with me.
Hope that clears it up for some people."
For them it was just a bit of a safer and more reliable bet to take some people into their "family" that they knew (aka not complete randoms) and played with/against.
